After Update 2.8 to 2.9 images from custom fields are not shown anymore

Hi Overthere,
my users pasted links to images as relative paths in an Extra Field "Image",
e.g. /images/medienservice/Saison%202018/Alle%20Motive/Vorschau/Jingle_Bells.jpg

which worked just fine.

After the update the urls are shown exactly as that relative path and therefore don't show the images, e.g.
https://images/medienservice/Saison%202018/Alle%20Motive/Vorschau/Jingle_Bells.jpg

After some try and error I noticed that the images reappear when deleting the leading slash in the extra field.
Was there some automatism in 2.8 that removed the leading slashes?

Any suggestions?

Thx in advance,
Ralf

Previously this did not work correctly - the problem was only visible actually when using Joomla in a subfolder. My guess is you always modified the path to add the slash, even after the image path was inserted by Joomla's media manager. Is that correct?

Can you please elaborate so I get a clearer understanding?
What do you mean by previously? Like prior to 2.9?
And "did not work correctly" does mean... what in detail? :-)

J is installed in webroot

Actually I can't tell wether the users added slashes each time they copied an URL from the media-manager. The one responsible at the moment is taking leave of absence right now and will only be back on Oct 8th.

What is the correct way of doin' it at the moment? Have I to replace all leading slashes in the DB?

If a website was in domain.tld/some/folder/ that feature would not create the correct path to the image inserted in that extra field type. This is what was fixed. It's possible your editors manually edited these paths, as when they are added by Joomla, there is no leading slash added (path looks like "images/some/folder/image.jpg").

Thankfully, you can normalize that behaviour with a check in your overrides.

It would greatly help if you provided a URL to your site and at least your item.php override (if there is any) from inside your template's /html/com_k2/default/ folder.
