Menu items don't disappear out of the blue :)

Unless someone manually changed them, if menu items are gone then perhaps there's an issue with your Joomla installation.

In any case, before proceeding, try K2 v2.10 (dev) from github.com/getk2/k2/archive/master.zip - it might resolve the menu item creation issue which you seem to have (if I understand correctly)...
