Hi there,
I am haunted by some strange urls being indexed by google: every time I bump into one of those I have to remove them from google, which can be done only temporarily because technically they're online pages...which I can't get rid of.

Let's start with the first kind of strange url: I have a menu item with a single k2 item.

The strange url looks like this: the regular url of the menu item, but at the end of it there is /content/10-name-of-category.

In other words, id and name of a random category is added to the url. The result is a "frankstein page" half the items belonging to that random category, half the k2 item. You can imagine how ugly.

I do have a menu item "Item listings - Categories" with all the categories: the categories mentioned at the end of the url do have a menu item.
.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me to fix this.

Thanks,
Have a good day.

Do you have K2's Advanced SEF enabled in the K2 Settings , under the SEO tab?

Thanks for your reply.
You mean "enable custom sef" like in the attachment?

EDIT: not sure you can see the attachment: however, yes for "enable custom sef".

Disable it please as it's buggy (to be resolved in v2.10.4). Clean your site's cache and test your URLs again starting the URL navigation from your site's homepage.

Thanks, I will.
Let me ask you: if I disable it, what about those strange urls already indexed? They will get a 404? There may be many of those on google, in this case I should find a way to catch them and then 301...not even sure if that's possible
Most importantly: are those random url due to that setting?
Thank you,

Invalid URLs will simply be purged from Google's cache.

How long is your site running with K2 v2.10.3?

but how to define an invalid url? The urls in question are live pages, although creepy and inconsistent with the menu structure.
Well, I've been running k2 ever since I started this profect, more than one year; not sure when it's been the update to the current version.

Google's Index will be purged & refreshed automatically. You don't have to do anything.
