Perhaps a silly question but I simply wish to load a k2 item inside a Joomla article with the placeholder {k2 ID}

I thought this was standard or possible with a plugin. Can only find the JCE links master plugin, but I need to load the whole item inside the article, not a link to it.

Prefer not to use a module for this.
