Answered my own question and turned off K2 User Profile and now everything is working properly. What a waste of a day when the solution was so simple.

I have now spent the better part of the day trying to get the registration form to work. I have built a dozen sites several with subscriptions and memberships but never had such a problem getting one small element of a site to work. I have turned off and on everything related to captcha. Removed keys, etc etc etc. Tried several other captcha options none of which will work with the form. The form will only work without errors with no captcha at all. Can I turn off the K2 user plug in and use the standard Joomla User plug ins instead? At this point I'm only using K2 for articles, etc not for comments and users. Though I'm not entirely sure whose registration form it is -K2 or Joomla's. :)

I think if you delete the reCaptcha keys from K2 it will work fine.

Actually I don't want to use K2 at all for registration or for comments. I just can't seem to get the K2 captcha turned off and stop interfering. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere I'm not turning off ... but I'll look again.

Finally there is an option "Enable reCaptcha on registration form" to not use K2's recaptcha on the Registration form.
Since you are using kommento I do not see the reason you need K2's recaptcha if another extension is already using them.

K2 Offers the possibility to use AKISMET instead.

The issue you have on the template is that the recaptcha script is being loaded twice: <script src="www.google.com/recaptcha/api/js/recaptcha_ajax.js">

You can stop K2 from loading it [hack] or prevent the other extension.

Hi, I have finally figured out the problem is K2 after trying Joomla's default templates. Apparently this is an unresolved problem with K2 from the hits I got when I googled :). I am now using the extensions' native captcha and for the Joomla registration will try some other captcha extension, if I can figure out how to turn off the big red error sign on the top of the page telling me the "Captcha plugin not set or not found". I now remember why I resolved not to use K2 again on a site but liked the template so much that I took a chance. Unfortunately this will probably be the last nuevvo template I use even though I bought a membership unless I can use them with K2 turned off.

I installed the Kiji template using Quickstart package (Joomla 3.2.3). I have been unable to get the Recaptcha working across the board (registration page, K2 comments and 3rd party extensions). I have now been told that there may be an error in the html structure of the page (recaptcha is hitting $.widget is null errors) so I am now wondering if the problem lies with the template. I am a web developer, and my problem is that I noticed that a website of one my clients have 23000 spam comments and I wanted to delete them after activating the ReCaptcha.

So I tried to to go the database to look for k2_comments table but the problem is I couldn't find any K2 table on the database at all.
I reinstalled the k2 extension to make sure things are find but still I can't find any table even if k2 is working fine and I have many items and categories.

I still can't understand why is this, I thought maybe htacces or robot.txt may prevent me from finding the tables but no I removed them and still no tables.

Can someone help ?

Thank you as well. This last bit of advice finally made the captcha code work for me. I'd tried all the other suggestions but the Javascript load is what worked. Thank you.

You are welcome. It shouldn't affect anything. Since you are under Joomla! 3.x all extensions using jQuery should load the system jQuery ( as K2 does ) and not another instance.

I changed those parameters to "Load v1.10.2" and "Load a local copy of jQuery" and now it works :woohoo: . Will it affect this change to the rest of the workforce or simply had not set this in the first place?

Your page has several javascript errors. First of all go to K2 parameters and enable jQuery. Since you are under Joomla! 3.x K2 will load the system jQuery. Let me know when you do this.

I've checked everything, I checked the addresses off recaptcha API and are correct. I've never gotten it to work.

Hello, I've done all that has been said here, I've updated the links to recaptcha, I updated joomla and k2, but I still see pictures if recaptcha on reviews from the news public. I can not leave them because racaptcha full of spam at high speed, but if it does not work, can not get people to post comments.

I have got the comments form working now, thank you for your help.

However I cannot submit a comment as a registered user. I am getting the error 'The Name or Email Address you typed is already in use!'

I have set the 'reCaptcha for registered users' to Disabled.

I have also logged out from the rear end before trying to comment to test this, although that is a pain when you are checking submitted comments and want to reply!

As I want both unregistered and registered users to be able to comment and make return comments, is there another setting I have missed?
