Different aliases for each joomfish language in K2

Category: English K2 Community

Hi

Not sure if it's related at all but there is a bug with aliases in general with K2 2.4.1.  Did you upgrade your

/K2/components/com_k2/sef_ext/com_k2.php file ?

A fix to this bug is checked into the K2 SVN (trunk 521).  Just download the latest SVN and grab the file from it  -Make sure you backup first. getk2.org/svnDownload.php

What kind of release-blocking bugs are in 2.5? If I install 2.5 SVN to Joomla 1.6, will it be painless to update to the final when it comes?

Also, I wonder if jUpgrade extension support might be added to K2 1.5 version to help migrations: www.matware.com.ar/

Please upgrade AllVideos player to work with the new JW Player so that it can play HTML5 and have a flash and then a download fallback.

I came across this thread in the K2 forum that seemed to fix this, but I haven't been able to get it to work...

The following code was put together by Craig Pearson...thanks Craig for the help...You have to also upgrade your jwplayer in the AllVideos Plugin to get this to work.  There are more directions at the K2 link above.
"mp4" => " <div id=\"container\">Loading the player ...</div> <script type=\"text/javascript\"> jwplayer(\"container\").setup({ autostart: {AUTOPLAY}, height: {HEIGHT}, width: {WIDTH}, file: \"{SITEURL}/{FOLDER}/{SOURCE}.mp4\", image: \"{SITEURL}/images/video.png\", players: [ { type: \"flash\", src: \"{SITEURL}/plugins/content/jw_allvideos/includes/players/mediaplayer/player.swf\" }, { type: \"html5\" } ] }); </script> ",

items are not showing up in some sub-categories

Category: English K2 Community

I can't figure out why items are not showing up in some sub-categories. Is there a setting that I'm somehow bypassing or is it to do with the template? I've upgraded to the newest version of K2 and am running Joomla 1.5.

Example: articles/nutrition: fitnessprofessionalonline.com/index.php?option=com_k2&vi...

They show up in some sub-categories, but not all. I've been working on this for a few days with no luck, so I'm asking for help.

I am using the default parameters for the categories, even though I've tried manipulating them to see if that would help, it hasn't.

I appreciate your time!

Thank you.

Doug

I haven't been able to contact the developer and he doesn't have a Forum, but I was able to 'fix' the code.  For some reason, it was reading all of the items just to edit one of them, I just added a clause to the SQL to use the item id and it seems to have worked.

I am still using K2 2.4.1.  I hope he upgrades it for 2.5, it is very useful.  I wish K2 had more native field types such as Date, etc.

Migrating joomla users into k2

Category: English K2 Community

Helloi have a working joomla site that i have upgraded but the new site is a completely new install with k2, everything is working well in the new site but now i want to import the contacts from the old site into the new site, i know import tool that comes along with k2 but can't use because the new site a complete new install, so i tried copying the user's table that comes with joomla and replaced the one in the new site database. this actually populates all the current user inside the k2 but they don't exist in the user manager. so all these user's can't log on to the site. Does any one know  how to fix this problem.

K2 for Joomla 1.6 is suppose to be released in two weeks for JoomlaDay Greece.

Upgrading  from Joomla 1.6 to 1.7 should be a much easier upgrade process as there isn't suppose to be a huge change unlike in the two previous major changes in Joomla, e.g. J1.5 and J1.6.

J1.7's features haven't even been confirmed yet so no one would know what J2.0 would have in store for us all.

Rob Porter said:

My concern here is that a year ago questions about k2 and 1.6 were responded to with "we're waiting for the release candidate".. waiting for RC became waiting for release, which became waiting for a month for a response after release...

So, is K2 going to be a 1.5 Joomla only, and never go up in version? No indicator has been said about supporting 1.7 at all, from what I've seen.

I was hoping to build my next extension with K2 support, but would seem a bit wasteful for developing for an old Joomla version that will be depreciated relatively soon.

As far as i have seen, 2.5 will be released soon. Plugins needed for it are on the way as well.

The 2.5 svn will load with 1.6, i have done that.

but - If i were building a new site today, i would use 1.5.22 and 2.4.1 with sigpro and allvideos..that are here and mature along with many other extensions and plugins for 1.5.

When the 2.5 is released I think it will be compatiable with both 1.5 and 1.6 joomla and you could upgrade to 2.5 as soon as the two main extensions are ready for it.

All the other integrations with other extensions like cb and jomsocial etc, will likely take more time to complete

I am working on big website upgrade and it will use K2 strongly for everything. I would like to launch this website in 2-3 weeks, by then K2 v2.5 Final is supposed to be released and I'm wondering what customizations I could do now with 2.4.1, that wouldn't dissapear after upgrading to 2.5. I'm going to use Jcomments and Jomsocial intergration with K2 and also would like to start templating K2 content. Will my all custimazations and changes dissapear if I upgrade to 2.5?

Exporting comments to Disqus

Category: DISQUS Comments for Joomla!

I've seen a lot of requests since Disqus become popular to have a way to export comments from JomComment (mostly) and other comments systems to have their comments migrated to Disqus.

I asked to Disqus long time ago and they told me they were be releasing something like that soon but now, they pointed me to JoomlaWorks since you are (supposedly) working on that. I think that could be really great. Most companies don't upgrade their Comments system and since Disqus is improving day by day, I'm sure that a lot of people would be using this.

However, as most "medium-big" development companies, Joomlaworks is focused in K2 (mainly) and forgot (or so it seems) their nice extensions such as Supperblogger or Simple Image Gallery which has been waiting for new updates for a long time. This also happens with Azrul and their JomSocial.

So, I thought that a wise move could be to share with the community the progress made with Disqus and then let the Joomla Developer community to help to finish the work.

What do you think about that?

K2 Mart, K2 and VirtueMart Shopping Cart behavior - trying to go live by still kicking and screaming...

Category: English K2 Community

I am off to sleep after 8 hours of searching every forum I can think of and I crashed googles servers twice in trying to find a solution to this issue.  Please bear with me - I will be as detailed as possible in hopes someone much smarter than me can help.  I have tried several PHP, CSS and HTML variations of suggestions I have found while searching - some of them came close, some of them just darn broke things.

My config:

Joomla 1.5K2 v.2.4.1K2Mart 1.3Apache 2.2.17PHP 5.3.5MySQL 5.5.8Template JSN Epic Pro 4.1.3Intelligence level - dangerous

I think every is as up-to-date as it can be (god help me when I do upgrade something)

Trying hard to go live so I am still on localhost win 7 x64)

My site setup is such that my main menu contains all my links to my K2 categories and items are accessible through the main menu.  I am using virtuemart to directly add mfgs and products and attaching them to the K2 items through K2 mart.  I have chosen every possible option for K2Mart "Catalog root category) going so far as to put all my K2 categories (and subsequent items) under one "master" category and pointing to it.  Thanks for reading so far...

Here's issue a:  I can happily "add to cart" and the product levels and cart qty, price, etc is all well.  But when I go to view the cart(index.php?option=com_virtuemart) THE FIRST TIME there is only a " &gt;&gt; Checkout" button (no "continue Shopping button). When I empty the cart I am faced with a " &lt;&lt; Continue Shopping" button that takes me to a link that has product on it (though I am not thrilled with being able to go back to my home page, I get this because for the localhost work, I have only entered one product).  BUT GET THIS...without changing anything else, I go back to my cart (via the same menu item) and the same " &lt;&lt; Continue Shopping" button link is now pointing at itself (http://localhost/joomla15Dev/my-cart.html) so of course I can click it all day and it only stays where it is.

I am truly sorry for being so long winded, but I am hoping to not have to go back-n-forth with Q&amp;A from folks who know a lot more about this than me (though I have surprised myself with how far I have come in such short order (shameless pat on back)).

Has anyone seen this behavior before and more importantly do you know how to fix it.  In a perfect world, for me anyway, the continue shopping button would a: be on the cart page the first time I look at the cart (whether or not I added prodcuts) and more importantly would go back to the page from it whence it came but at a minimum, not go into a circular reference that has up to this point forced me to add my main menu to this screen so my customers can find a way out - it is horribly unprofessional and driving me nuts.

Thoughts, opinions, ideas?

Ajax Pager for Joomla and K2

Category: English K2 Community

An ajax powered news display module for Joomla and K2 with pagination. It can fetch both Joomla core content and K2 Items. It works with the native mootools library. The module, a GPL product, comes with a number of options that will enable the users to present their news in different styles. More importantly, the module adopts a sub-template system, which is similar to the one implemented by K2 CCK. This template system presents you seemless opportunities to create a custom design on your own.

I thought I was using PhpMyAdmin. It sure looked like it to me (without going back and double-checking)

I don't mind starting over. It's all good. Live and learn.

Thank you for the tip about the configuration.php info with the username and password. I really appreciate that.

Also, thanks for the advice on 1.5 vs 1.6. I kind of thought that, since it's so new. I'll just check it out locally for now and stick with 1.5 on my live site.

When it's time to upgrade to 1.6 I'll be sure to back up my database first! :)

Thanks again for the help!
