K2 items restore - Updated from Joomla 2.5 to 3.1

Category: English K2 Community

Hello Muzamil,

There are more dependancies than the users and it is a bit more complicated. What I suggest is either manually change the author to one that already exists in your Joomla!(not K2) user groups, or reinstate the old Joomla! 2.5.11 website and use an extension like Admin Tools to upgrade to 3.1.1

PS. backup before doing anything

Ben you can always backup and try reinstalling K2 on top.

Hello Вячеслав,

You should upgrade to Joomla! 3.1.1 and K2 2.6.7.
Also make sure your template overrides (and tag.php to be precise) have the proper code for pagination

Is your site native 2.5.x or it started as a 1.7.x?

Sorry for sounding a bit like a Gestapo Officer but I want to reproduce the error.

Hello Aleksandar,

This is an issue related to the JCE editor not K2. Some settings of the editor possibly changed during the upgrade. Look for which html tags are allowed and which are stripped.

If you are still experiencing issues with you editor you should contact the JCE developer.

RSS feed stopped working after I starting using K2

Category: English K2 Community

Hey guys! First off, K2 is FANTASTIC! Don't see how we could live without it.

Although we're having on problem with it.

Recently we upgraded from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5. In order to migrate the articles, we used the SP Transfer component and then finally we used K2's native import function to get all 10,000+ articles into K2.

Now the problem is our RSS feed for www.middleeasy.com/?format=feed hasn't worked since we migrated the site, on July 4th. However, I noticed that the RSS feeds for each category works properly (www.middleeasy.com/index.php/fighting?format=feed)

I ran a little test and published a dummy article using the com_content system instead of K2 and it showed up in the RSS feed!

I've been searching Google for days now trying to discover a fix to this. I noticed that plugins could cause this problem to occur, so I've been disabling them and re enabling them to no avail. I also notice that SEF urls could cause this problem. SEF is turned off on MiddleEasy.com.

So guys, any help to a new K2 user?

If you tried to update K2 on a Joomla! 3.1 site using the Joomla! update manager, you'd get a notice saying "invalid package" or similar to that.

It's fixed now. Make sure you hit "Find updates" again to refresh the K2 update file from our server.

The problem occured because there was no Joomla! 3.1 specific definition in the XML update file on our server - we had update blocks for Joomla! 2.5 and 3.0. All sorted now.

Also make sure you are not trying to upgrade on Joomla! 1.6/1.7 since these versions are not supported

500 Error on Install

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I am having a problem installing K2 on my site. It is a new install, only Joomla 3.0.3 and K2 2.6.7 but after K2 install site renders a "500 Error". Advanced debug shows:

Notice: Use of undefined constant K2_JVERSION - assumed 'K2_JVERSION' in /home4/siteuser/public_html/mysite/plugins/system/k2/k2.php on line 32

Fatal error: Class 'K2HelperHTML' not found in /home4/siteuser/public_html/mysite/plugins/system/k2/k2.php on line 55

The system plugin is enabled and the temp/log directories are correct in main config. I tried "one click upgrade" in Joomla so system is now 3.1.1 but the error persists.

Ideas?

The location of the definition of font-family is in includes/helper.php in line 39 and 40. You can replace them there, but keep in mind that after a template upgrade your changes will be lost since the only files that the upgrade package won't overwrite are index.php and custom.css.

Then, after defining the new font-family, browse template.css and k2.css files, get the elements that have the Roboto font family defined and copy them to the custom.css file. Define only the font-family of these copied elements, i.e.
body {font-family:'Open sans', sans-serif;}

You are using an outdated version of K2.

You have to upgrade to latest version (both K2 and your overrides as well) and use this method described here => getk2.org/blog/1169-k2-v265-released

The other method would be to map all your content in menus so that each taxonomy and term renders in it's own menu item and not through the index or the current menu item.

[SOLVED] can't display migrated items on site

Category: English K2 Community

i have recently migrated from 1.5.26 to 2.5.11 and using latest version of k2.

Did the migration with sp upgrade, all items are showing in back end. following this guide
getk2.org/documentation/tips-a-tricks/item/311-manually-migrating-k2-content-from-joomla-15-to-17
i still can't get them to display.

*notice my notes in the next step
6. Update k2_items created_by ID to new J1.7 Super User ID by running SQL query:
UPDATE `PREFIX_k2_items` SET created_by = NEW_ID WHERE created_by = OLD_ID *note joomla and k2 user id's match each other what else and I running here?

7. Update k2_items modified_by ID to new J1.7 Super User ID:
UPDATE `PREFIX_k2_items` SET modified_by = NEW_ID WHERE modified_by = OLD_ID *note joomla and k2 user id's match each other what else and I running here?

8. All of my k2 items had access set to 0 so I made them all public again:
UPDATE `PREFIX_k2_items` SET access = 1 WHERE access = 0 this ran fine and updated 256 items.

did a test and was able to post a new item so i know it is something simple that is missing.

i get a 403 not authorized when attempting to access the direct url path to the item

I have a fix!!! :)

look for this line in plugins\k2\k2additonalcategories\k2additonalcategories.php
line: 278
$query = "SELECT `catid` FROM #__k2_additional_categories WHERE `itemID` = {intval($item->id)}";

replace for this snipet:

if (!empty($item) && !empty($item->id)) {
$query = "SELECT `catid` FROM #__k2_additional_categories WHERE `itemID` = {intval($item->id)}";
} else {
$query = "SELECT `catid` FROM #__k2_additional_categories WHERE 1";
}

this will fix the problem after save and create a new one.

hope it helps

Category: English K2 Community

Krikor Boghossian wrote: Hello Tom,

Joomla! 3.0.1 is an outdated version, you should upgrade to 3.1.1.

Your problem is caused from a JS conflict with CKeditor's scripts. One of their scripts 'hides' #extraFieldsContainer using a display: none.

You can bring this issue to their attention and wait for an upgrade. For the time being you can 'hack' their CSS files and insert a snippet like this.

Tim McCully wrote: Is this about CKEditor or its newer generation, JoomlaCK Editor ?

"The JoomlaCK editor is an Advanced Joomla implementation of the mother project at cksource.com."

I believe both editors are compatible. Possibly Tom would have better luck moving to the new generation?

Hi Tim,

I'm not sure about that, the extension says "JoomlaCK Editor", but it's a different one from a clean joomla installation. Here's a screenshot of the articles editor

[SOLVED] JUser: :_load: Unable to load user with ID: 42

Category: English K2 Community

Just a comment to clarify what happened:
Sometimes the Joomla article Author ID gets messed up. Since I had only one article with this problem it was easily fixed from the K2 Item Edit by just using the Change button for the same author.

I suspect this is an author ID problem occuring in Joomla, that somehow isn't a problem until K2 imports an article. My case involved the J3.0.3 QuickStart home page (authored by Joomla?). I upgraded that to J3.1.1. Then as myself I modified the home page title and content. I assume the Author ID was then somehow not what K2 expects, but J3.1.1 didn't care. Then I installed K2 and imported categories and two articles into K2. Only the former J3.0.3 QuickStart home page had this problem. Another article I wrote from J3.1.1 imported without any K2 errors.

Fortunately the main content I have to convert will be completely rewritten from K2 (it isn't a lot and needed review anyway).

Hello Zakaria,

Try to access your site with the default template (using ?template=system or ?template=atomic as a suffx to your URLs). If you can see your site the there is an issue with your template.

I have never used a Joomlashine template but it has come to my knowledge that there is a possible conflict with some plugins and you might need to reorder your system or K2 plugins.

I am sure the Joomlashine developers will know exactly how to assist you.
