I didn't say this. You can keep it as "fast cars". But the space in URL for this tag will be replaced with "%20" in order to be valid. And as i already told you, all modern browsers take care about this when they open links like that. Example : demo.getk2.org/show/tag/Black%20and%20White .

Anchor Problems

Category: English K2 Community

When I add link/anchor pairs to a K2 Item, clicking on the link appropriately facilitates navigation to the anchor point, but once there the page is truncated to just the part of the page beginning at the anchor point downward with no way to scroll back to the top of the page. Any thoughts of what might be happening? Adding a "Back to the Top" link/anchor pair might get me back to the top, but I want to solve the problem of not being able to scroll back to the top.

Below is the link/anchor implementation in the Item code.

<p>These percentages hold for situations as disparate as the sale of a new technology from Silicon Valley to a new, paradigm-shifting idea for improving the safety of drinking water in a traditional village in Peru. It makes no difference.<a href="#footnote-1">1</a></p>

Thanks for the tips. I found the solution at the K2 Parameters: Introtext and fulltext HTML cleanup (tag strip) were set on "yes". Changed it to "no" and now everything works fine.

Thank you!

Hi. You can't have spaces in URLs. K2 converts spaces to the appropriate characters according to the URL specification www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1738.txt. Then it's up to the browser you are using to convert them back and display them correctly. Most modern browsers do that.

K2 needs to be responsive!

Category: English K2 Community

Too many issues with not working and not being responsive ... so we'll hold our breath and hope your next update removes the modal pop-up and that we'll be able to use it and the many features in the future. As it is now we have already invested too much time trying to make the K2 forms responsive and yet we still won't be able to use it now when going live as there is no way a user would be able to create an account and add a new item on their own and think this is a good system. I do have a work around so users can add and edit their content using standard joomla content - which works and looks great in the front end - but means we will need to manually create and add the K2 items for each user ... some of the advantages of this method:
  1. still use K2 features for commenting and rating and categories and all
  2. users can add new items right away (we found 'Add new item' was not available until we made an edit to their profiel?!)
  3. no errors with not selecting category (we found that if they did not select a category or enter their own title alias they got errors and a 404 page?!)
  4. no pop-ups, looks awesome and uses JCE
  5. does not unpublish their items when they submit edits

So fingers crossed you can address all these issue before we get busy as we won;t be able to manually add and edit everything for everyone when we start getting busy.

I've been eyeing the database, this configuration is correct in the params field?. the part that indicates the template is empty and in "".

Do you see the image meta tag in the page source ? If the Facebook debugger is not fetching your site at all then this has nothing to do with K2 image size. If you have GZIP enabled, try to disable it as there are user reports that Facebook cannot fetch pages with GZIP. Also ensure that your page does not include invalid HTML markup.

MP4 no image only audio

Category: AllVideos

Hi,

I've recently taken some screen recordings (using camstudio) for some how to videos on my site. I had to convert them to mp4 using SUPER but when I upload them to my local server and add the tags in a K2 article, I can only hear the audio. There is no image, yet I can see the player and hear the file.

I'm guessing it has something to do with codecs used in the video but I have no idea what i'm doing. Can anyone give me some suggestions.

regards
John.

Limit Category View by TAG

Category: English K2 Community

Hi. The only way to limit by tags and category is to either make a menu link to tag or use the K2 tools tag cloud module with category restriction. In both case however you will get the tag listing layout and not the category layout. If you need to display a gird there you will have to implement it on your own. All available options for tag listings can be found under K2 parameters.

Limit Category View by TAG

Category: English K2 Community

Hi folks - new to this community. Have searched for this topic and do not believe there is a solution posted yet.

I have a site I am developing markbits.com.au/eclipse_dev/

It is K2/RocketTheme/Gantry

I have a set of products divided into three main types
  1. AUTOMOTIVE
  2. TRADE WASTE
  3. ENERGY SOLUTIONS

There are a lot of sub-categories, call nested under a generic category called PRODUCTS

There are around 40 items they sell/support and some of them may be used in all or any of 1, 2 and 3 above. Therefore we have TAGGED each item as well. So there is a relationship between the category and tag.

I want to create a menu item to show items in a category, but limit them results by tag.
  • If I select a CATEGORY menu, I cannot limit by TAG
  • If I select a TAG menu, I can limit by TAG and select CATEGORY, but I cannot select columns, retrieve number or other items I have in CATEGORY.

I think I am just confused.

If someone has a solution (and yes, I will pay for module or expert), please let me know.

Mark

.schedule .moduleContent ul.tabs li { display: inline-block }

This will push the schedule to the right.

and this little snippet will push the titles but in their place
.featuredItems li.leadingItem .moduleItemTitle { padding-left: 90px; } .featuredItems .moduleItemTitle { right: 30px; }

Paste these snippets in your custom.css file.

Now for the broken sidebar. It appears your introtext has HTML code which breaks the layout of the site.
My suggestion is either strip that HTML code or use a word limit (K2 Category setting) which automatically stips HTML tags.
If the latter doesn't work with non UTF-8 characters then you should do the stripping that manually.

Regarding your questions:

1. Because it cannot be corrected now. This is a limitation of tags structure in K2. It will be corrected in the upcoming version 3 of K2. But it cannot be corrected in K2 2.x. This is how the situation is.

2. and 3. We do not provide support on hacks. We recommend to leave this as it works.

K2 ID Displays in URL Despite sh404SEF Settings

Category: English K2 Community

Hi Fotis,

Wow, thanks, I can't believe you take the time to answer beginner questions. :)

Here are the Advanced SEF Settings I'm using:

Enable advanced SEF for K2 URLs: Yes
Prefix for category URLs: content
Prefix for tag URLSs: tag
Prefix for user (author) URLs: author
Prefix for search results URLs: search
Prefix for date listing URLs: date
Prefix for Item URLs: None
Custom prefix for Item URLs: (left blank)
Use the item ID in the URL: No
Item ID and title alias separator: Use a dash
Use the item title alias: Yes
Use the category ID in the URL: No
Category ID and title alias separator: Use a forward slash
Use the category title alias: Yes

As a test, I used the same settings for K2 Advanced SEF on a Joomla 3.2 site I'm building on an internal system... and of course the menu alias appears in the URL perfectly as expected.

So it seems that I'm doing something wrong on the 2.5 site outside of K2 that is impacting the behavior. Not sure what it could be. It just occurred to me that if IT is using some fancy rewrite rules in .htaccess, maybe they could be interfering... yes, I'm grasping at straws.

Thanks again!

@k2man

This is how it is designed to work. The code that strips the dots is located at line 32 of /administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2tag.php . However, if you edit it, don't get surprised if tag links stop working.

Has a solution been found for this bug? It's still a problem with Joomla! 3.2.2 / K2 v2.6.8

I need to add periods to K2 tags and they are being removed when saved.

I can't wait for an update to fix this. I would love to hear about any type of hack to correct this.
