It's not the variable, you're trying to achieve this at category item listings ? I tried the same and it didn't work because of the link tag, but if you try this on item page, it works as there is no link to it.

Thanks to the awesome new URL settings we have managed to ditch sh404.
However the tag urls are still in title case.
EG we have " domain / lowercase prefix for tag urls / Tag name"

It doesnt appear possible to set the tag name to lowercase in the URL
In advanced config you can set lowercase or uppercase settings for tags.
I have normalisation turned off (separate issues with that) and settings for 'Tag character case' are lower

Crucially, Admins and editors want all their tags in title case Eg "Blue, Red, Green" ...Not 'BLUE, RED, GREEN" and not "blue,red,green"

A quick look at the router.php shows no use of the tag settings from config so in order to get them lower case we added to line 234 or the main router.php

Question: is this the intention of "Tag character case" settings and it was left out of the router? ANy reason why it shouldn't be:) ?

hello to all,
use joomla 2.5 with jck editor + k2, I have a problem when I create the articles, do not appear in the alias accented letters such as a, and the hyphen, is a problem of k2? how can I fix? can bring disadvantages seo?

in the online site "elmarada.org" it has the same settings, is stopped working as a calendar just when i deleted the demo articles from the category. in the demo site i deleted the demo and add new items and nothing went wrong! even if i select another category in the online site i doesn't pull the items. other options like tag cloud or select box or archive is working in k2 tools except the calendar!

Hello Anurag,

If you choose to edit user.php you might also might want to edit tag.php as well.
Also the user.php file is under the default folder and not the templates folder.

Which cache are you using? Also can you please send me a URL?

From code.google.com/p/getk2/issues/detail?id=256#c1, it appears this is an issue related to conflicts with Joomla's router.

Dashes seem to be removed by /administrator/components/com_k2/models/tag.php:79

$tag = str_replace('-', '', $tag);

this too is an issue for me as my client has tags that contain proper names that need the dash. I don't see why they'd be filtered out.

My css list is not responsive, I asked my template support and they said its not to do with the template but the widths... My widths i have made sure they are percentages and not fixed.

How is it possible to display in a module the links to K2 items using some tags ?

In a e-shop I have to display recipes, entered in K2, related to each product item (in Mijoshop).

So, maybe, there is a way to display a module content depending on the product name, present in the URL.

Sur un site e-commerce de produits alimentaires, pour lequel j'utiliserais bien finalement Mijoshop et K2, je voudrais afficher dans un module la liste des recettes, saisies dans K2, contenant le produit dont la fiche est affichée, grâce aux tags des fiches recettes, ou du champ spécial "ingrédients" dans K2.

Comment faire ?

I also found the second article (getk2.org/blog/1169-k2-v265-released) has more info states this:

Now head over to the K2 parameters and in the "Content" tab look for "Default parent menu for user pages (optional)" and for "Default parent menu for tag listings (optional)" and assign both to this new menu item you created with alias "show".

in the "Content" tab I don't have either of those options, they just don't exist!

ie no

"Default parent menu for user pages (optional)"
or
"Default parent menu for tag listings (optional)"

am struggling to get decent urls like, started with K2 on Friday, eg

All you need to do is simply create a new menu in Joomla! (call it "Hidden" as it won't be directly called from any module) and in there create a K2 menu item pointing to all categories. Give this menu item a nice alias, e.g. "show" (as we also do here on getk2.org). If you do this, K2 is now able to "assign" this menu item as "root" for all such "menu orphan" K2 content such as tags, users, search and date listings.

we had hidden already so made a 3rd menu item called show and pointed it at categories

so what do we need to do to solve the url problem please?

I'm new to K2, Joomla too. I have categories and items set up. What I want to do now is make xml feeds available for consumtion by mobile devices. The default K2 rss thing isn't sufficient. This is the link I'm using "domain.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&format=feed&type=rss"

Three things:

1. The category tag doesn't have a reference to it's parent, making it a wee bit difficult to create a hierarchy. I could use a pre-determined means of identifying subcategories, but this would not work in a dynamic environment where I have categories being created and deleted at any time.

2. I have some extra fields created using the backend. They show up fine on the article but not on the XML document. Why is this? Is there a workaround?

3. The description formatting is a bit weird. I get the CDATA thing is down to the fact that I'm using some rich text editing thing, but the K2FeedIntroText, K2FeedFullText and K2FeedTags div tags are just making me cry. Can I not have this thing formatted any better?

In addition, is there any thing else you recommend to generate a more usable xml file? ObRSS doesn't seem to work with K2. And for some reason, the K2 addon for ObRSS won't download.

Hello, im a newbie about K2.

I have a Joomla 2.5.9 stage site and i have installed K2 2.6.7, i also installed K2fields extension.

I created a new extra field called Social, inside it i want have different text fields, each one for each social network (eg. Facebook, Twitter etc...).

So in the Basic field i set text as type and UI and in Values tab i inserted the various social networks.

Inside a K2 item in Extra field tab i see the name of the extra field, Social, i expected to see two lines labelled Facebook and Twitter.

What is wrong?

Risolto. Non funzionava semplicemente perchè i tag non dovevano avere spazi.
Esempio: avevo un tag che si chiamava "Tubi in Cartone". Ho dovuto chiamarlo "Tubi" dopodichè ha funzionato.

Salvea tutti, ho un problema con la funzione portfolio, uso K2 versione 2.5.4 e Joomla 2.5.11...
Ho creato un menu che richiama 3 categorie k2, con una trentina di articoli (con 2 tag ciascuno), nelle opzioni base del menu, come template ho scelto portfolio. Ora nel front-end quando vado nella pagina si visualizza tutto anche i tag ma quando ne clicco uno, gli articoli non si categorizzano in base a quest'ultimo.

L'unico modo per visualizzare gli articoli e quando clicco su "all".

Ma su gli altri tag non si visualizza nulla...

Grazie in anticipo per l'aiuto :)

Hello Panos,

For the best SEO you can map all you users into menu items and use the menu item's meta description and keywords.

You can use the same method if you have a small number tags but if you simply cannot manage all your tags, map the most important ones in menu items and use this method for the rest of them

I have:
Joomla 2.5.11
K2 2.6.6

Upon installing a component which loads html content through XMLHttpRequest with response "application/json" both in front-end and back-end, the component breaks down. When disabling "System - K2" plugin the component works.

On inspecting the System-K2 plugin I have found that the onAfterRender method modifies the JResponse body doing a substitution on the html tag (adding: prefix="og: ogp.me/ns#" attribute) and replacing some openGraph meta tags in the document.

This happens without discrimination on: document type, frontend/backend, component.

I have done the following modifications to the plugin resolving my problems:

function onAfterRender() { $mainframe = JFactory::getApplication(); $document = JFactory::getDocument(); if ($mainframe->isAdmin()) {return;} if ($document->getType() != 'html') {return;} if (JRequest::getCmd('option') != 'com_k2') {return;} /*from here on the rest is left untouched*/

I think:
1) In back-end this stuff is unneeded - so it should not be executed
2) Surely, this stuff should be only done on html documents
3) Questionably, but I think k2 plugin should work only when in k2 component

I hope this helps someone and if it is considered worthy it will be included/fixed in some future version.
