Habe gerade einen Kranz frischer Übersetzungen erhalte - die ich zwar inhaltlich nicht immer verstehe, aber in den nächsten Tagen einarbeiten werde.

JoomlaWorks hat ein Projekt bei Transifex angelegt mit dem entscheidenden Vorteil, dass sie die dort hinterlegten Übersetzungen alle 12 Stunden in ein Sprachpaket packen. Böse Fehler lassen sich so relativ leicht auswetzen. Die aktuelle deutsche Sprachdatei ist zwar noch sehr Englisch an einigen Stellen, aber brauchbar. B)

Die Übersetzung von Ihnen habe ich mir heruntergeladen und werde sie in den nächsten Tagen mal vergleichen. :woohoo:

Wobei ich "Anwenden des Tag-Kategorie Filters rekursiv auf alle Unterkategorien" (Modul K2 Tools) immer noch nicht verstehe. Es gibt doch für Schlagwörter (Tags) keine Kategorien, oder? :(

I have a .png file with a transparent background, but when I put it in a K2 article the background becomes white.

I found these two threads with solutions:

The solutions are not working for me, unfortunately.

When I inspect the image, it tells me that k2.css has the following line, making the background white:
div.itemFullText img {padding:2px;margin:4px;background:#fff;border:1px solid #666;}

But when I open k2.css in a text editor I find
div.itemFullText img {}
so there is nothing to edit.

Searching the file for the word "background" I deleted backgrounds from as many "img" tags as I could (after making a copy of the original file, of course), but it still shows up with a white background. I even added "background:none;" to div.itemFullText img {}, but still nothing.

What am I missing? Is this container type inheriting properties from something I can't see? Are there more than one k2.css I should be looking in?

Modul K2 Tools: Apply tag category filter recursively to all sub-categories

Ich kenne K2 nicht gut genug - ich weiß nicht, was das heißt, und auch nicht, was ich alles machen muss, um es herauszufinden. Kann mir jemand verraten, was diese Auswahl bewirkt? :dry:

Can I do this with a module? I wanted to have a page with 3 modules on it. A case study, a testimonial, and perhaps some project images or something.

I want the modules to call things relating to each other, and ideally I want to put one module for each thing rather than a new module for each project.

So I could tag all the testimonials with the right word, I could tag all the case studies (in a different category) with the right word), etc. But how can I make all the modules pull them together from that tag?

AND is there a way to choose to make modules dependant on another. For example if I choose a random case study, can I make the testimonials and such appear in conjunction?

Das Prozedere hat sich offensichtlich geändert. Ich habe heute Vormittag eine eMail vorgefunden, dass die Sprachdateien freigegeben wurden - obwohl bei der deutschen Übersetzung noch so einiges fehlte. :blink:

Das führte dazu, dass die Version mit der deutschen Sprachdatei unbrauchbar ist: Wo es keine Übersetzung gab, wird einfach alles leer gelassen... :unsure:

Aber die Sprachdateien sollen automatisch alle 12 Stunden aktualisiert werden. Deswegen habe ich in alle leeren Felder erst mal den Original-Text reinkopiert. Englischer Text ist besser als gar nix. In spätestens 12 Stunden sollte also eine vollständige, wenn auch nicht durchgängig deutsche Sprachdatei vorliegen. Ich werde dann in den nächsten Tagen dafür sorgen, dass es eine konsistente deutsche Übersetzung geben wird.

Frage: Da ich mich mit Joomla und K2 noch nicht so irrsinnig lange beschäftige: Reicht es die neue Sprachdatei nachzuinstallieren oder muss ich die unvollständige Datei zuerst deinstallieren (wie?)?

Actually, you can... Tag your K2 items as you want and then create one or more menu items pointing to each tag you want. Simple ;)

See e.g. www.onsports.gr/soccer/AEK - this is a menu item pointing to the tag "AEK". This menu item is a second level menu link under "soccer".

And I thought I was sick! K2 is siiiiiiiiiccckkk.

Glad you guys made it to J1.7. I've been hungrilly waiting.

Now I've barely used K2, odd considering my last statement, but I could see it's potential from the word go. It's not just ACL.. it's a lot more.

Now here's my scenario:

1. I'm a little drunk and rambly (but I love you all)
2. I want to display some articles, but I believe it should be in more than one category.
3. I thought, hey I'll use tags.
4. It doesn't seem like I can do it that way.

I still can't select multiple categories (garrrrr). Gosh darn it if I want windscreen wipers to appear in Ford, Alpha Romeo and Car how do I achieve that?

Does anyone know of an extension that will allow K2 items to be filtered based on the category and/or tags? What I'm talking about is something like this:

I am afraid that we still need to make some hacks with AllVideo plugin 4.x. Here are the hacks needed for 4.1:

In /plugins/content/jw_allvideos.php  around line 222 you will find the following code:
replace it with:
In  /plugins/content/jw_allvideos/includes/sources.php around line 41 you will find this code:
replace it with this code:
With those 2 modification a preview image that is stored in the same folder as the flv file with the same filename.jpg will be shown.

You will still need to do the fix to /administrator/components/com_k2/views/item/tmpl/fielbrowser.php documented above. Note that this fix was for version 2.4.1 of K2.

I have installed the K2 v2.4.1 on my site and am trying to use the K2 tools (categories, tag cloud, etc.) but none of them will display the title (although "show title" is selected). It is a local build so I tried doing another default joomla template install with k2 and the titles (h3) display fine. Is there something I'm missing here? Does the position need a certain style, class or something?

Debugging in firefox tells me that the div isn't even there for the h3.

it goes:
my_module_position/k2ModuleBox01/...

from inspecting other sites it seems like it should go:
my_module_position/h3/k2ModuleBox01/...

I just converted a couple hundred Joomla articles to K2 items. Is there an easy way to apply tags/categories/fields to a large group of them, e.g. check a dozen and give them all the tag "horticulture" ?

I don't really want to edit each item individually.

Eg: When user is viewing and item page from the Company category, you want to show links to an item from the Project category ?

If that is the case, you can use the tag feature by adding same tags to both the items. Then in the item view options setting of the Company category , set to show the related item by tags.

Hi this is something I miss on K2 and I really need for my next project. Maybe there is a way or a plugin that allow this.

Imagine we have two K2 categories: Companies and Projects. Both using full K2 stuff: Texts, Images, extended fields, galleries, tags,…

Projects are done by (belongs to) companies, so I would like to establish a relation between a company and its projects.

When I show the company item view, I would like to have at the bottom a list of its projects. When I click in a project it will take me to the project Item view.

Please, I really appreciate if someone knows how to do this and help me.

For the spans to get injected for the dual color title in Radiance you'll need to remove the whitespace between the header tag and the beginning of the php block that outputs the title. For example

Same goes for any questions that might occur while developing a site with K2. The old community and soon the new one, provide the best source to learn K2 and solve issues.

Now that v2.5 is out, we plan to gradually fill the documentation section in this site with small practical tutorials covering all aspects of using K2. I personally plan to write 5 small tuts per week.

If you are just getting started, I can only say that working with K2 is like working with default Joomla! articles, only much easier and concise.

To get started, try this:
- Install K2 in an existing site.
- In the items list, top right, hit the import button. This will import your Joomla! articles into K2. Don't worry. The original Joomla! articles are left intact. This will allow you to have some content inside for you to play around.
- After the import, you already have some articles (items in K2 lingo) and categories that form your K2 content's structure. Now start creating some menu items to the K2 categories or items.
- Experiment with the K2 category options. When you flip the switch in some parameter in a K2 category, the switch will be enforced in all items of this category, everywhere in the site (unlike Joomla! articles).
- Enrich your K2 items: add tags, a K2 item image, video, gallery, upload some attachments.
- Extend your K2 item forms: go to the "extra fields" page in the K2 backend and create some new extra fields. "Extra fields" are new form items that extend the base K2 form. And that's one of the beauties of K2. You got a solid starting form for your item and you can extend it with additional fields. Imagine wanting to add a table of data (e.g. details about a movie) inside your items. Extra fields are the way to go. Once you create a few extra fields (you'll see that K2 asks you to group them), you "attach" these extra fields to your item forms, by assigning a particular extra field group to a K2 category.
- A K2 category can only be assigned to one extra field group. An extra field group however can be shared among many categories.
- Now after you've setup your extra fields (and groups) and assigned them to one or more categories, you can start adding more content to your K2 items. When you select a category that has an extra field group assigned to it, these fields will display in the "extra fields" tab inside the K2 item edit form.
- Create more menu items to users (user pages/blogs), tags or the uber-cool "latest items by users or categories" view.

Some additional things to keep in mind:
- K2 makes proper use of its "global" parameters. These parameters will most likely be set only once from you. Browse these parameters (see the button top right in all K2 lists in the backend). If some parameter seems funky too you, hover above its name for an in-depth explanation in the form of a "tooltip".
- We have a few but very powerful modules. One you'll be using most of the times and that's "K2 Content" (mod_k2_content). This is the primary module to fetch content from anywhere in K2 in dozens of combinations. The other modules allow you to fetch comments (K2 Comments/mod_k2_content), user lists (K2 Users/mod_k2_users), the K2 tools (mod_k2_tools) module allows you display lists like archives per year/month, a drop-down of your K2 categories, a calendar, a K2 specific search box, a tag cloud and more. Finally we have the K2 User (mod_k2_user) module, which is a replacement of the Joomla! login module: you use this module to allow your users to log into (and out of) your site. When they are logged in, they see some special actions, in relation to K2 and the powerful access rights that K2 can give to specific groups of users in K2.

Und wie geht es dann weiter? Ich übersetze da jetzt fleißig jeden Tag (es sind noch weitere Felder und eine weitere Datei dazu gekommen, so dass man überall noch einmal durchgehen muss), aber wann und wo gibt es dann das fertige Sprachpaket?

Just found it : all tag-settings in "Layout & view options for Search, Tag & Date listings" in K2 Configuration were on "HIDE".
