Here's my solution:

 

1. get Rereplacer by nonumbers at www.nonumber.nl/extensions/rereplacer

2. Create a Rereplacer Item to search for "Displaying items by tag" and replace with (in my case) "Similar products by tag:"

 

That way I did not have to "hack" the k2 code.

Well, I found it but, its probably a bad idea to edit this file:

components/com_k2/views/itemlist/view.html.php

Regarding my previous post I have to precise that I get this error message :

There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery PRO plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/137

 

Of course, the folder exist but it is empty. The images are not saved... Any idea why?

I tried using Jordan's item.php file and it works for the main image (thanks Jordan)

but for the gallery, I get an error. The tag is displayed instead the images. eg. {gallery}137{/gallery}

 

I use last K2 version 2.4.1 and last version of Simple Image Gallery PRO 2.5.2



Any idea?

I'm building a magazine website and stopped by Joomla magazine website (which we know uses K2).

I've been wondering some time what things or extensions they used to achieve some things:

 

1) Issues

magazine.joomla.org/issues

Which module will allow me to list issues that way? Is that a category listing modified by overriding a template? Should each magazine issue be a category? (with "repeated" subcategories?)

 

2) Browse by topic

magazine.joomla.org/browse-by-topic

Is this a tag/keyword listing page that uses an overriden template?

 

3) Finally... does any1 know which extension they used for instant translation? Or they used translators and made a "switch" depending on language?

Hello, I'm developing a page in K2 but I'm new to this.

 

I have couple of categories which all have the same sub-template. Menu items are assigned by K2 tags. Now I'd like to make sponsored articles which I want to appear in every menu item. So basically I thought I need to make a 'sponsored articles' category and prepare some special sub-template. But how do I edit CSS properties for a sub-template ?

 

Or maybe there is another (simpler) way of doing such things ? Thanks.

I installed K2 first time and I have not encountered any problems. Out during a relocation, the management system in the Tags window K2 articles has become different. I made a screenshot. I am forced now to the tags manually and to go and select from a list! boring! Do you know what happened? Is there anyway to meta tag k2 items for rss feeds so facebook gets the right image? seems to just take the wrong image because the tags are wrong.

I'm facing a problem as it concerns "Fetch items from children categories" option in K2 category listing.

I'm trying to set the parameter "Fetch items from children categories" to NO and the only possible way to  achieve that is when I select 2 or more catagories to displayed and not only one that I want. Any suggestion?

i had the same problem, the lack of ordering options.

So i made a quick-fix to work around the problem and now i can choose any order type.

At the time that I was getting hit, this Google search query was in my referer logs:

 

"2011-07-04_14-17-22" -"enter the two words you see below"

 

Which, when searched in Google, turns up a whole bunch of K2 based sites. So, it seems as though somebody determined a flaw in K2, set up a bot to comment on each site it could find to leave the 2011-07-04_14-17-22 string in the comments, and then returned to take advantage of the vulnerable site.

 

In the search results, you'll also see what I'm guessing are the reCAPTCHA public and private keys for each site.

I am new to Joomla/K2 and I can't seem to solve this issue.

I have added a new category, and for some reason the mod_k2_tools are not showing up for it, although they are showing up for  items in every other category. I have made sure there there is a link to this category from the main menu, yet it still doesn't work. When I try to switch the category to older ones - it seems to work, but only sometimes. Is this a but or am I doing something wrong here? Please help!

Hello. I'm new in K2 component. I have the AnswersPlazza with K2 Component and I have a problem. I'm already join the site and I have an account. When I want to post a question I click in the top letters on "Ask a Question". Here I have to write a title, the tags and put the my question. It's ok here but when I click Save to post my question the windowed is close correct but my question is not appear in the dashboard in frontpage of the site. Why this??Can anyone help me with this, please??

Hi, we just re-launched the website of a carpet store in Vancouver. The site was built with Joomla 1.5 using sh404 and Simple Image Gallery Pro. Recently, we decided shift the focus of the website from the store to the carpets and hardwood products the store carries. That meant to refurbish the product gallery to provide good overview and intuitive navigation  for the visitors. For now, we put the carpet and hardwood gallery and the blog into k2.

does what you guys need. I got it, been using it and it's great stuff.

 

 

Also have you thought of adding as tags, all the extra fields you need for sorting? Have the extra fields but also have tags (hide them ofc) for the extra fields you want and then basically use the tags for sorting, which is easy and can be done with many ways and modules. Just an idea.

For example I chose "Feuerwehr" it shows me the section - so right so good.But for any reason when I now chose in the main-menu WA-FK - Blaulicht again it shoots me to SIEG-WITT - Blaulicht. Thats not correct, it must stay in the WA-FK-Section.I first thought there might be a problem with my main-navigation (Im using superfish nav-bar), so I disabled it and activated the standard joomla menu. An there you can see now, that I click on any category item on the right side, it open sction SIEG-WITT for any reason.I hope you cen reproduce my problem, if not tell me - this has high priority for me to get it solved.Thanks for your help,chop
