Regarding your alias problem.  It sounds like you are running into a known bug in K2 2.4.1 where the aliases are actually disregarded and are created from the title tag no matter what the item alias is set to. It's been fixed in the SVN.  Take a look at this thread and see if this solves some of your issues:

There is JCE K2 advanced link plugin, free, for JCE editor. Search forum and you will find it. (for linking)

If you're talking about the view when you click on a tag it's generic.php. The same file is used for search and user lists so any changes will also affect them. Not sure what you mean about second view. If you're talking about creating a copy of template files so you're not editing the core files you can use k2 template overrides.

 

Please don't bump, it actually keeps many people from responding to your question so it is self defeating. Instead you should consider that your question was really not clear in regards to what you are looking for.

Search for "Tags". So can man make related articles. There are modules for that also.

Open the k2.css file with an editor.


search for the following tag:h2.itemTitle

there is "font-size: 36px;"; change it like u want.

Here is the system I am trying to build.  So far my question/request remains unanswered in all the joomla forums.  Can you suggest a solution with K2?

 

I am trying to design an invention tracking system.An Invention would belong to a sub-category among the following categories.  subject (physics, medicine) , age of the inventor(<10, 10-20,20-30..), country (USA, UK.........)etc .    An Invention would have a title, web link, date invented, patent status etc.    and many news articles & interviews related to that invention.Using k2 I can create categories and subcategories and even a page with the invention details.   But I don't how to  add many articles and news items for that invention.  Is there a way to link multiple articles to a parent article.  I want to just list the  articles (with a summary view) with a "read more" link.  I thought of using  'comments' to post the news articles but comments would display the entire news item rather than just listing the title.  What I am looking for is 'related stories'  similar to what you see in the following

I just disabled the "RSS feed icon" in my K2 global params under the user/author pages section and it causes the one on the tags page to go as well.  These are seperate sections in the params list - probably should have independent params controlling them.

i have one other problem/question that i would like to discuss with you and that you might kwow the anser/solution to...

Take a look at the same website as before

 

On each page there is a "SEARCH" bar function.

I would like that when people start a search for certain products or tags that the results that are being shown are linked images to specific items.

 

If i know place a search it gives the good results but as linked TEXT. I would like to have the IMAGES of the products in the search results with, if possible, titles above.

 

Do you know what i should do, is there a specific plugin, component or module, that gives a reliable solution?

Loving K2, really using it to my advantage, looking forward to how it progresses and moves forward.

 

Two suggestions for me personally that would improve it on the SEO front with ShEF404

 

ShEF404 Unique ID in categories and removal of categories in the url

 

Hope you guys can all work together and resolve this as I think it would really increase the pwer tremendously, if there is already movement on this would love to know

As far as I can tell there are no TAGS in joomla 1.6 big mistake - perhaps you can create custom fields for articles however. I have not seen this yet.

I have add the tag feature now to the current K2 Content Module 2.4.1. I also have add an option to only fetch items with Gallery, and an option which you can show or hidden the Gallery.

I have a strange problem with my new site.

I use K2 2.4.1 on my Joomla site.

 

Almost all of my menu-items are showing K2 categories.

After clicking the url contains "&Itemid=..", what is correct.

When on such a category page and clicking on a Tag (from the cloud) the results are shown and the page title shows up: "Toon items op tag:  ...", what is also correct. The url on that page contains the same itemid as on the previous page !!.

 

When on the homepage (no itemid in the url !!) and clicking on a tag, the page title is not shown. The previous page (homepage) url did not contain Itemid!!

 

When using the K2 Search module (from tools), the itemid is missing as well and no page title is shown also.

 

My question now:

How can i arrange that all my pages (tag/search) always show the correct page title?

Or: How ta manage that always &Itemid=.. will be added to the url?

yea I fond it, it was just that, my template did override ist with its own k2 css.... thank's for you imput. Maybe you know where I can change the Heading? Since I am using a german translation related by tag nor deads like related by date, wich is a little confusing ;) I would loke to remive the (nach Tag).

Very nice code Kemler, it did exactly what I wanted to do. The only problem is that you forgot a to close the link tag and it was breaking my template. The correct code would be:

Hello...I'm using K2 version 2.4.1/Joomla 1.5.22 & I also cannot save tags. Every time I try to add the tags it disappears after saving. I also cannot add attachments for some reason. I went and installed the sc jquery plugin but that didn't help & I enabled it for the backend. Any other suggestions?

If you are loosing this much traffic, you have to do 301s!  

Are you using the Joomla SEF or a 3rd party?  If you use sh404 then go into the alias manager, find the current K2 page and add an alias of your old joomla page there (other 3rd party SEF components should have the equivalent functionality)

If you are just using the Joomla SEF then you either need to create 301 in the .htaccess file or use a extension like one of these: extensions.joomla.org/search?q=search...301+redirect&q=301+redirect&sa.x=0&sa.y=0

 

You can also use Admin Tools (highly recommended) to create 301s from the backend.

 

If you want to do it manually (be careful, .htaccess files are easy to mess up and completely screw up your site), then take a look at these pages:

I am very new to K2.  When I add an item, I do not understand why the html such as <br> are not being respected. I have tried adding <br> tags in html mode to space the text and nothing works.

All the text is written without spacing and its hard to read.

Hey everybody, I am building an article directory with K2 and I am running into a problem when it comes to displaying items (articles) by tags. I love the feature but it displays the entire item (article) or items (articles) for that tag. I would like to only display the item title so as to provide for easier browsing and to avoid any possible dings for duplicate content by Google. Is there any way that I can do this? I would include a link but this is my first post and I don't want to appear spammy. If you need to look at the site to get a better idea then just let me know. Thanks in advance!
