Menu by Tag is not filtering Category

Category: English K2 Community

I have set up a Menu that pulls a certain K2 tag and even though I also selected 2 categories to filter by, that part is not working.  The menu is only pulling the tag but it is pulling that tag from all categories, not the 2 I was trying to filter by.

The page is: sustainableharvest.org/en/programs/program-overview and the menu item is the "Testimonials" on the right side. That menu item is supposed to pull all articles tagged "testimonial" in the "Email Update" & "Newsletter" categories, but when you click the link, it is only linking to all articles tagged "testimonials."

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks!

can we add extra fields to the user registration form?

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I am using K2 User Extra Field but it is gives result with render html field with table and other things..from where we can control those html tags..

I need control above html table:

<table cellspacing="1" width="100%" class="paramlist admintable"><tbody><tr><td width="40%" class="paramlist_key"><span class="editlinktip"> </span></td><td class="paramlist_value"> <div style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 12px; color: rgb(255, 255, 255); padding: 4px; margin: 0pt; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(11, 85, 196);"> Contact Details </div> </td></tr><tr><td width="40%" class="paramlist_key"><span class="editlinktip"><label for="pluginsuserExtendedFieldsaddress" id="pluginsuserExtendedFieldsaddress-lbl">Address</label></span></td><td class="paramlist_value"><input type="text" size="40" class="text_area" value="" id="pluginsuserExtendedFieldsaddress" name="plugins[userExtendedFieldsaddress]"></td></tr><tr><td width="40%" class="paramlist_key"><span class="editlinktip"><label for="pluginsuserExtendedFieldscity" id="pluginsuserExtendedFieldscity-lbl">City</label></span></td><td class="paramlist_value"><input type="text" size="40" class="text_area" value="" id="pluginsuserExtendedFieldscity" name="plugins[userExtendedFieldscity]"></td></tr><tr><td width="40%" class="paramlist_key"><span class="editlinktip"><label for="pluginsuserExtendedFieldsstateOrProvince" id="pluginsuserExtendedFieldsstateOrProvince-lbl">State or Province</label></span></td><td class="paramlist_value"><input type="text" size="40" class="text_area" value="" id="pluginsuserExtendedFieldsstateOrProvince" name="plugins[userExtendedFieldsstateOrProvince]"></td></tr></tbody></table>

Yes, is a little complicated task... but is possible, you must install this plugin "User Extended Fields for K2" and then change the parameters of the plugin in order to add your own fields...

SEARCH + K2

@ Linda I agree these options would be great. Also is there a way to change search parameters on the search page? One of the check boxes is labeled K2 items. No one will understand what that means, so I would like to change that to say search directory only or something along those lines. I'll take a look at the php file, but if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all eyes..:-) I do hope there will be an upgrade on the search tool soon though. It would also be nice if we get ad search parameters on the back end as well other than tags. I would like users to be able to search directory advertisers by age, height, weight, gender etc...

Changing the tag cloud

Category: English K2 Community

I want to do something similar, but I don't care if there is more than one tag on a line.  I figured out making the tags the same size, and increasing the number shown.  But I would like the tags to be listed in a K2 item.  I tried embedding the K2 tools module in a K2 item, but that didn't work.  (maybe I did it wrong).  I could live with it being in a module position if I could get a module across the top to display it.  However, so far, the tag cloud only shows up when I put the module in the Left position.  I'm using a JoomlaShack template.

Tag Cloud

Category: English K2 Community

Did Someone ever find a solution for this problem?

-If a tag cloud is created and to be filtered by certain category and these tags also exist in other categories, it displays the items from all categories and not just from the filtered category.

It look like there is some connection with the itemID it receives. If a menu item exists which is connected to a K2 tag, then everything is fine: the items from the tag in the tag cloud are then connected to the filtered category.

Hi, I am using 2.4v. of k2, and when i set tags cloud to take tags from a category, it not only takes them, bet it takes them from all other categories with the same tag, for example I have Videos and pictures categories with the same tags, in the videos page i have a k2 tag cloud module set to take tags from Videos, and in the pictures page - pictures. The module generates good tags and sizes by the items amount from a category, but when i click on the tag, it shows not only from videos category or pictures category, but from both of them. I would be very thankful for a solution to fix this!

'One css per k2 template' plugin

Category: English K2 Community

Salut Olivier,

Not sure it this is a bug or if it has to do with my config.  Using k2 2.4.1, lates sh404SEF and css4K2 version 1.2.5 with about 3 subtemplates.  Works perfectly except in this weird scenario that I just noticed...

My newsletter service automatically adds tracking arguments to the URL so the URL gets tagged with things like mcid=alfakjljk9098 and if you click on the link, when you get to the k2 item, no k2 related css gets loaded at all (neither the default one or the sub-template's).  Looking into it a bit more, I noticed that if I add any arguments to any of my URLs, the css gets screwed up...

FYI: All the plugin options are set to "No"

Live example:

www.frenchtoday.com/blog/virtual-tour-of-paris-9th-arrondiss...

vs.

www.frenchtoday.com/blog/virtual-tour-of-paris-9th-arrondiss...

AND

www.frenchtoday.com/audiobooks/une-semaine-a-paris-audiobook...

vs.

www.frenchtoday.com/audiobooks/une-semaine-a-paris-audiobook...

Weird no? Any ideas what the issue could be?

Merci,

Read More Button?

Category: English K2 Community

I think what Janet is asking is:

How to move the 'read more' link above the 'published in', 'tagged under', etc.

Do as Yiota says:

"copy the templates folder from components/com_k2/

TO:

templates/your template/html/com_k2

(you'll need to make a new folder titled 'com_k2' in which to put the copy in .... ;-)

Now, using your editor of choice, open the 'category_item.php' ... (not the item.php as Yiota said to do), found in your newly copied and moved folder.

On lines 244 to 272, you'll find the following code:

___________________

<?php if($this->item->params->get('catItemCommentsAnchor') && ( ($this->item->params->get('comments') == '2' && !$this->user->guest) || ($this->item->params->get('comments') == '1')) ): ?> <!-- Anchor link to comments below --> <div class="catItemCommentsLink"> <?php if(!empty($this->item->event->K2CommentsCounter)):?> <!-- K2 Plugins: K2CommentsCounter --> <?php echo $this->item->event->K2CommentsCounter; ?> <?php else: ?> <?php if($this->item->numOfComments > 0): ?> <a href="<?php echo $this->item->link; ?>#itemCommentsAnchor"> <?php echo $this->item->numOfComments; ?> <?php echo ($this->item->numOfComments>1) ? JText::_('comments') : JText::_('comment'); ?> </a> <?php else: ?> <a href="<?php echo $this->item->link; ?>#itemCommentsAnchor"> <?php echo JText::_('Be the first to comment!'); ?> </a> <?php endif; ?> <?php endif; ?> </div> <?php endif; ?> <?php if ($this->item->params->get('catItemReadMore')): ?> <!-- Item "read more..." link --> <div class="catItemReadMore"> <a class="k2ReadMore" href="<?php echo $this->item->link; ?>"> <?php echo JText::_('Read more...'); ?> </a> </div> <?php endif; ?>

________________________

Cut them, and move up to line 155, (right after the " <div class="clr"></div>  </div>), give yourself a couple of returns, and Paste.

Save it, and ...  voila:

Hope it helps!

ps.  I'm not an experienced coder by any means, so if someone here knows either an easier way, or if the process above is not a good idea, please comment....  !!!

To be able to actually search the tags, today it's not working.

To be able to search selected categories

I just noticed there's no option to hide or show rating (voting) for tag listings? Is there another place where I can set this? I'm new to joomla / k2 and will appreciate the help. Thanks.

The hack worked great for those menu items type "Tag"

Thanks a lot for the tip!

I did a quick hack to make the tag view to display in grid view with 3 columns. You need to make changes to the files components/com_k2/templates/default/generic.php components/com_k2/css/k2.css If you want to display 4 columns, change the 3 and 33.3% to 4 and 25%, and so on.

Google Detects Duplicate Titles and Description Meta Tags with K2

Category: English K2 Community

Google is reporting that my site's K2 is creating duplicate title tags and duplicate meta tags, Here is an example -http://bearing.us.com/products/item/19-cylindrical-roller-bearings....http://bearing.us.com/products/item/19-cylindrical-roller-bearings.... I'm not 100% sure this is a bug but if there is a way to fix this, please let me know! Thanks!

You don't need to hack the core files of K2 for this.

Just put this in your robots.txt file:

Disallow: /*/item/*.html?tmpl=component&print=1

Hello, see if this helps, it looks like it can be 1 of 2 things, since that icon is from joomla im thinking its a joomla article and not K2. try this first-

go to your admin. backend panel

go to "Global Setting"

hit the tab for "System"

in the catagory- "User Settings" got to "New User Registration Type" check to see if its "Registered" on the drop down list.

Next go to the category  "Media Settings"

go to Minimum User Level for Media Manager"- check to make sure its not on "Registered"- select Editor or Publisher

click "SAVE" or "APPLY"

Now the frontend users who are registered will not be able to see that icon or edit articles- only the group you selected.

if im wrong check this- this affects the K2 articles-

go to your admin. backend panel

go to components - K2

in the K2 dashboard go to "User Groups"

find "Registered"

open that up and go to the heading "Assign Permissions for this group"

you will find "Front end item editing"

click on "NO"  and hit "Save"

not works coz the codes on web site you provided are buged.

there is some "\...\" syntax erros

Open the same page and go to the specified lines

and use this codes
"mp4remote" => " <object type=\"application/x-shockwave-flash\" style=\"width:{WIDTH}px;height:{HEIGHT}px;\" data=\"{SITEURL}/plugins/content/jw_allvideos/includes/players/mediaplayer/player.swf\" title=\"Blessed Teens Academy Videos\"> <param name=\"movie\" value=\"{SITEURL}/plugins/content/jw_allvideos/includes/players/mediaplayer/player.swf\" /> <param name=\"quality\" value=\"high\" /> <param name=\"wmode\" value=\"{TRANSPARENCY}\" /> <param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"{BACKGROUND}\" /> <param name=\"autoplay\" value=\"{AUTOPLAY}\" /> <param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" /> <param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" /> <param name=\"flashvars\" value=\"stretching=exactfit&file={SOURCE}&image={SITEURL}/{FOLDER}/{SOURCE}.jpg&autostart={AUTOPLAY}{CONTROLBAR}&fullscreen=true\" /> </object> ",

Instead of those.
"mp4remote" => " <script type=\"text/javascript\"> QT_WriteOBJECT_XHTML('{SOURCE}', '{WIDTH}', '{HEIGHT}', '', 'autoplay', '{AUTOPLAY}', 'bgcolor', '{BACKGROUNDQT}', 'scale', 'aspect'); </script> ",

Becareful about the title tag of new codes.
