sh404sef v.1.5.3 build 296 and K2

Category: English K2 Community

it's a long time a go.. i used acesef with k2 plugin but at that moment i had another problems. then went back to sh404sef. i checked urls now and i saw no problems. i think u can use sh404sef. may be u will have some title tag problems but u can edit them from sh404sef administration.

Silvija said:Hi there,
I got the same problem. I'm currently using acesef and it always adds "?layout=category" at the end of the Blog URL. Someone told me that I should buy sh404sef to solve that. Now I read your post and happy to know that it works with acesef as well.
Could you please tell me which k2 plugin you used for this? And maybe a short guide how eo disable that suffix?
Thanks!

How to add an attachment with an external link

Category: English K2 Community

By default k2 saves a copy of the attachment on your server. Simplest way would be to embed an a href tag in the fulltext.
one could create an override if the attachment files are named in a way you could create a link to it with php code and display it in a certain place in the itemview

"Latest items from author", side by side whit "Related by tag items"

Category: English K2 Community

First of all you will have to make a K2 template override in case you don't have already (copy the templates folder from components/com_k2/ to templates/your template/html/com_k2/). Then open the item.php file, locate the 2 blocks and put them one right under the other. Make sure that there is no clr div between them, but put one right after the Related Items and just in case, put also one before the Latest items from author.

Then all you need to do is write some CSS in order to place the one right next to the other. Use float:left and width.

K2 CSV import tool

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,
I just published the new version of the tool (0.5a). Now you can import the categories via CSV. There could be main-categories or sub-categories. If there don't exist there will be created.

So have fun with it: www.individual-it.net/en/Joomla/

Please report bugs and wishes and if you like it vote for is or write a review: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extension-specific/k2-extensions/12408
this would make me happy and help new users to see the advantage of the tool.

By default the title tag of a k2 item view is the title of the k2 item.

AllVideos, K2 and Related Videos

Category: English K2 Community

Hi, i'm using K2 for a portal, and i have installed AllVideos Reloaded because i have to show Related Videos in every K2 article, based on the component's keywords. My problem is that 1) I don't know how to insert automatically AllVideos in K2 items 2) I don't know how to organize them with the tags. For example, a thing like this will be perfect, maybe with the related videos shown below the main video. Which component/module was used for that article?

How put a article in more than one category

Category: English K2 Community

Hello.I would like to use the K2 to construct a local portal with news. I would like an article to be owned in 2 or more categories. For example, an article belonging to the category 'sports' and category 'Greece'. So be divided according to subject but also in geography. I think something similar is in gazzetta.gr where an article may belong to category football and the category 'Panathinaikos'. In the category 'Panathinaikos' there may be articles from other sports. How can this be done? Using tags?Thanks

Hi Lonnie, the site is really beautiful. I was wondering, with Jevents, do you have it working within K2 articles or is it handled separately? I'm trying to figure a way to integrate Jevents within K2 so I could take advantage of all the little goodies K2 has to offer. Just wondering - thanks!

Tagging extra fields

Category: English K2 Community

Hi las2conB

Have you tried using the new "Searchable labels" feature in 2.4? Sounds like it might do the trick for you.

From the release notes:

"We have added a new Extra Field type: "Searchable labels". This type looks like a normal "text" type Extra Field in the K2 item form, but the output is actually linked "keywords" that redirect the visitor to search results. You could use this field to create an "additional layer of interconnected tags" or as a way to "label" K2 items differently to categories or tags. For example, if you're using K2 as a listing directory, you can use the "Searchable labels" Extra Field to define, say, "Cities". So the admin of the site would input available cities for a listing, separated by a comma, like: "Athens, London, New York". When a visitor clicks e.g. on the Athens entry, they are redirected to a search page with K2 items using the same "Athens" city entry. If you are using K2 as a catalog or eshop (in conjuction with K2mart and Virtuemart) you could use this field to provide additional labels for your products allow your visitors to search similar products by clicking these labels. The applications of this new Extra Field type are endless ;)"

rel="nofollow" in Extra Field Links

Category: English K2 Community

I don't know if anyone is interested in this article, but i use K2 as a Portfolio Component and there i had one problem, i don't want Google to follow the links when i add the URL in the Extra Field Links.
Here is a Workaround so you can choose the rel tag nofollow in the dropdown:

Step 1:

Open the file: /administrator/components/com_k2/models/extrafields.php
around line 234 add this code:

$targetOptions[]=JHTML::_('select.option', 'nofollow', JText::_('No follow'));

Step 2:
Open the file: /administrator/components/com_k2/views/extrafield/tmpl/default.php
around line 125 add this code:

var option = new Element('option',{'value':'nofollow'}).setHTML('<?php echo JText::_('No Follow', true); ?>').injectInside(select);

and around line 142 add this code:

options[4] = new Element('option',{'value':'nofollow'}).setHTML('<?php echo JText::_('No Follow', true); ?>').injectInside(select);

Step 3:

Open the file: /components/com_k2/models/item.php

around line 879 add this code:

case 'nofollow':
$attributes='rel="nofollow"';
break;

DONE.

SEE THE SCREENSHOTS FOR FURTHER DETAILS.

Now you can choose in Extra Fields the nofollow in the Link Dropdown.

Change Default Caption Handling - Using with K2

Category: Simple Image Gallery PRO

Hi, we're using SIGPro in conjunction with K2 for past events listings, with each event (item) having a gallery of images that is launched from a thumbnail. The plugin is currently set to "Show generic messages" for captions, and picks up the title of the item (event) as the caption for all images. This works great for MOST galleries.

But we would like to use the labels.txt file on some galleries to have unique captions for each image. I know with the stand-alone plugin, you can use a switch to override the default caption_mode when adding the {gallery} tag. But in K2, we don't have the option to add these switches, it just automatically adds the basic tag when we upload the zip file of the images.

A) Is there any way to add the custom switches in K2?

B) What happens if we change the default behavior of the plugin from "Show generic messages" to "Read contents of caption files"?
- We have over 50+ galleries already - what will the caption change to for all of these (if anything)?
- What would happen if we switched the behavior back. Would all of these existing galleries revert back to the previous behavior and captions?

It would be much more convenient to leave the default behavior for most galleries, and just override for ones where we want unique individual captions. But if this is not possible in K2, I suppose we'll have to generate 'generic' labels.txt captions for all galleries. Just want to know what to expect so we don't mess up all of the existing galleries (which are currently live). It would be great to not have to create/modify labels.txt files for over 50 current galleries if at all possible.

THANKS!

I'm afraid that cannot be done.
You can use the existing image in the introtext though to keep showing in your lists. If you have enabled the word limit on the lists or the cleanup introtext from the general k2 parameters though you won't be able to see them because the introtext is being cleaned up. You should go to the K2 general parameters and just allow the img tag from the introtext, along with other tags you want to be allowed.

The only fix I've found for this (which is not especially correct given that it is by-passing the administrator options) is to edit the file generic.php (found in: components --> com_k2 --> templates) at around line 17. I've entered a heading element with this php fragment within it:

<?php echo $this->escape($this->params->get('page_title')); ?>

Hope this helps, and I hope maybe this bump gives this issue some attention.

Regards,

Alex

Hi,
There's no error message at the websites frontend, just a blank page.

As soon as I pick an article for the Select specific items feature, the webpage goes blank. When I remove the selected page it turns on again. Also, if I create a new instance of the module in question the webpage goes blank when I select any specific item.
