JW Media Manager XTD - The ideal partner for AllVideos used in Joomla! 1.0.x

Category: AllVideos

What every user of AllVideos has been waiting for is out! Easy video uploading and management in the backend!! Or... the Joomla! media manager redefined!

Need we say more? Check out the screenshots at www.joomlaworks.net!

Hold your breath now! The features:

- Allows browsing of any file type on ANY folder. You just setup the root folder path. You can browse the default images/stories folder or you can set it to browse your whole Joomla! site!
- Upload ANY file type you want, multiple simultaneous upload possible. Next version will be enhanced with an AJAX uploader for even more uploads and asynchronously, to avoid timeouts.
- Copy, move, rename, delete ANY file type or folder. Images, word documents, videos... you name it. The JW Media Manager XTD handles all file types and displays an appropriate filetype icon when browsing.
- Image preview using Slimbox, permits grouped preview for all images. Slick thumb image reflection is added as well to ease your eye while browsing your images!
- FLV Video and SWF preview using Videobox (lightbox for videos). You can now use JW Media Manager XTD to preview your SWF banners correctly and of course your FLV videos.
- AJAX Image editing! That's right, you read correctly! It's like having your personal little Photoshop inside Joomla! You can resize, crop, rotate, flip, add borders, add text and do many crazy stuff using the built-in AJAX image editor of JW Media Manager XTD. And best of all? All your editing can be undone and the edited images can be copied under a new name!
- JW Media Manager XTD is 100% free! Are we crazy or what!!??

Using the JW Media Manager XTD means you do not need to have any other desktop imaging software on your computer (or your clients computers). You can edit your images anywhere you like or organize your files directly on the server, with no need for additional software!

There is one minor drawback though (for many here it won't be, we know from the stats ;), hehe... ). It does not work in Internet Explorer for now (IE can't handle all these JS stuff), but that shouldn't matter much, as the admins using JW Media Manager XTD can opt for Firefox or Opera, for example (it's a controllable user environment, as we say in IT).

Enjoy like mad!

Cache bug?

Category: Simple Image Gallery PRO

I have just installed PRO version (v 1.2) and noticed that the time it takes to load the page with SIG significantly increased (in comparison with Free version). Ok, I thought that it just the 1st time - the plugin generates previews and saves them to disk. But the performance didn't improve - all subsequent page loads took the same large (about 5 seconds) time.

I checked the code and found the bug, which caused checks for thumbnail existence to always fail.

File plugin_jw_sigpro.php: the code should be:
 // create thumbnails         $toname = $mosConfig_absolute_path.$tempfolder.md5($_images_dir_.$name).".".$format;         $toname_live = $mosConfig_live_site.$tempfolder.md5($_images_dir_.$name).".".$format; if (file_exists($toname) && (filemtime ($toname) + $cache_expire_time * 60 > time())) { $html .= $leftcomment.'<img alt="'.$clickopen.'" title="'.$clickopen.'" src="'.$toname_live.'" />'.$rightcomment; } else { $fromname = $mosConfig_absolute_path.$rootfolder.$_images_dir_.'/'.$images[$a]; $result = makeThumb( $fromname, $toname, $image_type, $_quality_, $_width_final_, $_height_final_); if($result)     $html .=$leftcomment.'<img alt="'.$clickopen.'" title="'.$clickopen.'" src="'.$toname_live.'" />'.$rightcomment; else     $html .='<span>Error creating thumbnail!</span>'; }

AllVideos v3.0 to be released in August - What's new?

Category: AllVideos

OK people,

we've scheduled to update our AllVideos plugin to v3.0 in August (so, no more 2.5 version).  ;)

This will be a major release, so perhaps the version number might not be the same in the end (might be v3.0, depending on the changes).

Features of the next version (as we've mapped them so far) are:

- New providers of course (including Brightcove, Veoh, Stage6 and MySpace too).
- Member functionality. You'll be able to show videos to everyone or your site members only
- Custom width/height adjustment per video.
- Autostart/autoplay option per video.
- 3GP and DivX format support.
- "Embed video" text box option (like Youtube)
- "Download link" button option (user clicks on it and downloads the video playing).
- Option to display videos in a lightbox-like popup.
- Fullscreen button option for FLV videos.
- "Preview image" option for FLV videos you upload yourself. You will need to additionally upload a preview image.
- Option to enable/disable the EOLAS fix for IE, which sometimes causes issues with other joomla extensions. Perhaps we'll add another solution for EOLAS as well.
- Playlist support for multiple videos or audio tracks displaying in the same "player box".
- JCE editor button to easily insert AllVideos tags.

We're also considering to expand AllVideos a bit more. What do we have in mind? Well, something like your own "personalized player". Meaning a CSS-styled box in which videos display, including the "embed video" text box and a "rating" toolbar.

Optionally, we're considering to add a "Google Adsense" insert tag or something like that next to the videos.

As you can understand, the changes are many and we've already completed a few. So, it still needs some work, but, trust me, the result will blow your mind.

This post will be open for everyone to post their comments on the above, as well as suggestions.

Thanx everyone.  ;)

Customizing FLV-player was created by Bamse

Customizing FLV-player

Category: AllVideos

Hello everyone!

I've been using the Flash Media Player from Jeroen Wijering for quite some time in other applications than CMS'es and Joomla. After installing the AllVideos plugin everything works super, but I do miss a few features.
One of them is the Preview image, but I found the solution in this thread; forum.joomlaworks.net/index.php?topic=383

So, the final question is; Can I customize the player using the regular variables used for the Flash Media Player (back, front, lightcolor, strech preferences etc etc) in some way?
My first guess was to insert the extra parameters after the emberd tag in plugin_jw_allvideos.php, but it would be really nice if they were configurable in a nicer way (read: GUI way ;P).
Also, it would be nice to have the possibility to have local movies sized individually, just like you feed the flv player parameters when used stand alone,  and in this case like;
{flv param1="true" height="320" width="240"}url/to/film1{/flv}
and
{flv param2="false" height="500" width="240"}url/to/film2{/flv}

Has someone done this or can point me in the right direction, my coding skills are not that great I'm afraid.

Many many many thanks in advance!

Start Image change

If you want a preview of your video, you can solve this problem for flv-files.

1.  You have to make little change in the php-file plugin_jw_allvideos.php
You can find the file in the directory “mambots/content”.
You must add to line 53 and 57 (where the values of the flv-array are set) :

&image=$mosConfig_live_site/".$video_folder."***code***.png

just after :
file=$mosConfig_live_site/".$video_folder."***code***.flv

and just before :
$showdigits=true".$autostart."\"

2.  You must place the preview-image in the directory where your video is placed and give it the same name as the video.
If you don’t want to use a preview-image, there is no problem; you just have the usable black background.
The image that you use will be the background for your video, therefore it is best it has the same size as your videoframes. The image must be in the png format (otherwise you have to change ‘png’ in the code added, for instance in ‘jpg’ if you want to use jpg-files)

And that it is.

- If you want convert your videofiles to flv-files you can use SUPER, a free conversion program. Of course, conversion can lead to a worse quality of the video.
- You can make easily a snapshot from your flv-files if you use the free videoplayer VLC-media player. This snapshot is a png-file and you just have to change the name and place the image-file in the directory where also the video is placed.

The flv-player used in the mambot has a lot of parameters, so you can change more if you want. If you are interested in that, go to the side of  the maker of the flv-player Jeroen (look at the credits of the mambot)

if you want to see the effect, go to www.choas.be/ongedierte (just for limited time viewable)

image preview or first frame for flv files in allvideos plugin

Would really love the ability to show first frame of flv or some sort of preview image.

Also, this would happen before download in order to save on bandwidth.

1st frame display? 0px frame? Video title instead of "AllVideos Player"?

Category: AllVideos

I have only used 2.4 but a joomla board seemed to imply that early versions had a preview image function and that this version does not.

Some sort of 1st frame display function would really make this plugin look great --  seeing a black screen seems a little antithetical to the visual medium.  Since places like Youtube do it, it would be great if those of us with our own flv could do it too.

Great plugin otherwise.

Possible to show preview image or first frame for local flv?

Category: AllVideos

Hi, I would like to display a preview image in the player to be displayed before the user presses the play button.  If this is not built into AllVideos player, has anyone tried to code it already in javascript?

Thanks,
Benjamin
