Registration Problems with reCaptcha

Category: English K2 Community

I'm using J 3.3.0 | Jomsocial 3.2.0.5 | JFBConnect 6.0.5 | SCLogin 4.0.5

Thanks for the responses guys but I looked all over and couldn't find another extension which uses reCaptcha. It's weird because this was working fine not too long ago. :/

I've disabled several plugins and tested after clearing server and browser caches. I've done the following:

Implemented solutions per thread - getk2.org/community/English-K2-Community/10508-SOLVED-Re-reCaptcha-not-working
Disabled - JCH Optimize Pro plugin
Disabled - NoNumber CDN for Joomla plugin
Disabled - Captcha reCaptcha plugin
Disabled - K2 Social Profiles plugin
Disabled - System Cache

After doing the above it still returns the same errors. Could the ordering of the plugins be causing this issue?

I am at a loss. :(

[SOLVED]K2 hacked every day

Category: English K2 Community

Hello

On a site Joomla 2.5.13 + K2 2.6.8, I have spams every day in the K2 elements.

I suppose they come by the frontend form, but the Joomla captcha doesn't work with this form, Askimet cost 5$/month, and the StopForumSpam website is no more online.

Another solution ?

Kind of a long read here:
getk2.org/community/English-K2-Community/10508-SOLVED-Re-reCaptcha-not-working

B.A. Umberger and Khalil have posted two solutions regarding reCaptcha.

Finally you can also setup Akismet which also seems to work fine (I 've personally used it in many projects).

ReCaptcha not working

Category: Commercial Joomla Templates

Hi, I have finally figured out the problem is K2 after trying Joomla's default templates. Apparently this is an unresolved problem with K2 from the hits I got when I googled :). I am now using the extensions' native captcha and for the Joomla registration will try some other captcha extension, if I can figure out how to turn off the big red error sign on the top of the page telling me the "Captcha plugin not set or not found". I now remember why I resolved not to use K2 again on a site but liked the template so much that I took a chance. Unfortunately this will probably be the last nuevvo template I use even though I bought a membership unless I can use them with K2 turned off.

If you want to see the register page it is at www.alldigitalcreatures.com/register.

$.widget is null errors: is this coming from Recaptcha or another script?

As for setting up Recaptcha I strongly suggest you follow the suggestions posted in the K2 Forum: getk2.org/community/

[SOLVED] reCaptcha does not show

Category: English K2 Community

I know there are many threads already on this topic but nothing helped me.
I've set reCaptcha for comments in my "Category blog" of K2, but the image does not appear. Only words appear that "Enter the two words you see below". Made all necessary setting in "parameters" in tabs "comments" and "advanced". Entered public and private key from google reCaptcha.
I'll be very thankful if you guide me step by step. Thanks...

Captcha not showing on Registration form?

Category: English K2 Community

Hey!

Despite the confusing naming convention - 2.5.18 being a later more stable version than 2.5.2, I just updated via URL and it's solved the Captcha issue.

Thank-you for your advice!!

HI again,

So many extensions, I'm not listing them all here.

The link you posted might be for those that are NOT seeing the captcha images at all right?

I am seeing the images.

Or does that link help with the verification of the form input?

[SOLVED] Problem when Comment Submit with reCapchta

Category: English K2 Community

Finally I solved the problem. It was something completely different:

For some reason, my server resolved the domain google.com in an ipv6 adress instead of v4.
ping was OK, but curl -v google.com resolved as ipv6 adress first:

root@abc:# curl -v google.com
* About to connect() to google.com port 80 (#0)
* Trying 2a00:1450:4001:c02::8b... Timeout
* Trying 173.194.70.101... connected
* Connected to google.com (173.194.70.101) port 80 (#0)

Therefore, the fsocketopen() method did neither get any response nor a timeout.

For a temporary solution, in the file administrator/components/com_k2/lib/recaptchalib.php I replaced the url of RECAPTCHA_API_SERVER and RECAPTCHA_VERIFY_SERVER with one of google's ip's:

Address: 173.194.70.138
Address: 173.194.70.113
Address: 173.194.70.102
Address: 173.194.70.100
Address: 173.194.70.101
Address: 173.194.70.139

[SOLVED] Re: reCaptcha not working

Category: English K2 Community

I figured out what the issue was in my case and maybe for several other too ...

There are FOUR areas where reCaptcha is configured in Joomla/K2 installation ... most everyone has been only adjusting the settings from THREE areas, the last setting is sooooo tucked away many of us missed it.

Here is a revised set of instructions for getting reCaptcha to work with Joomla and K2 ...

- Goto www.google.com/recaptcha and get your Public Key and Private Keys.
- Goto Joomla Admin > Plug-in Manager > Captcha - ReCaptcha and enter your Keys and ENABLE Plug-in.
- Goto Joomla Admin > Global Configuration > Default Captcha and set it to use "Captcha - ReCaptcha".
- Goto Joomla Admin > Components > K2 > Parameters > Comments > Anti-spam protection and set it to use "Google reCaptcha" (or Both), plus ENABLE "reCaptcha for registered users".
- Goto Joomla Admin > Components > K2 > Parameters > Advanced > down to "Anti-spam Settings" and enter your Keys again, plus set "Enable reCaptcha on registration form" to YES.

Many of us have done those steps several times trying to figure out the right combination, however there is one final step, mentioned earlier in the forum, a conflict with the default reCaptcha in Joomla vs. K2. The answer to get it to work is this ...

- Goto Joomla Admin > User Manager > Options (button) > Captcha and set it to use "NONE". This will turn-off the default user registration reCaptcha loading in the background behind K2 and causing the conflict.

End of Madness! ... Good luck everyone ... :woohoo:

[SOLVED] reCAPTCHA typed text invisible

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I managed to get reCAPTCHA working, but...
The template I am using (jp-amard) uses black as background color for input fields.
Now the cursor and the typed text in the reCAPTCHA field turn out as invisible.

Is there a way to change either the background color or the font color of the reCAPTCHA box?

SOLVED-K2 Component not found - K2v2.6.2/J.2.5.6

K2 Parameters => Advanced => Enable K2 User Profile = Yes
Now, when a new user wants to register at my web site, user registeration form comes up and after user fills it up and clicks "register", user gets an error :

Can someone please help me??
:dry:

I fixed it !!
I downloaded K2_v2.6.5_override_package.zip file from getk2.org/documentation/tutorials/item/77-k2-template-override-package-comparison then I uploaded its contents (except css folder!! because if you upload css folder contents to your web site, it may destroy your template's current look) to my web site's /templates/zt_newsiv/ folder and user registration began to work, but this time it began to give "wrong captcha code" error, this is because there are 2 captcha plugin work at the same time but you can see only one of them, so you need to disable one of them. I disabled joomla's captcha:
your site's admin panel => Users => User Manager => Options => Captcha = "None Selected
and enabled k2's captcha plugin:
your site's admin panel => Components => k2 => Parameters => Advanced => Anti-spam Settings => Enable reCaptcha on registration form = "YES"
Also make sure that "reCaptcha public key & private key" are the same in Extensions => Plug-in Manager => Captcha - ReCaptcha plugin
AND in your site's admin panel => Components => k2 => Parameters => Advanced => Anti-spam Settings !!

Good luck!!
