It's nasty, but I have the same problem!
I use the simple image gallerie pro 2.5.7 and k2.
When I work in the backend, first, the image gallerie works fine, but a time later, you can only read {gallery}111{/gallery} and
There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/111
Then I'm going to the k2-article and open it and store it new, the image gallerie looks fine with all her pictures. But after a short time, you can see the same bug.
What is the problem? Can you help me? You can see the bug at www.merle-ibach.de . Thanks a lot!

Root folder for image galleries -> media/k2/galleries
If you do not do this before you will have error
To correct go to the image folder on the server: root/media/k2/galleries -> delete image folder you uploaded
Then go to the item you have upload image on k2, click on Image gallery tab, click in check-box for delete and click apply or save
Now upload zip image forder and save. That is it.

i have a the same problem and i need very very urgent help with that. My situation (K2/Sigpro):
Everything was running perfect. Because my Provider updated the server from PHP 5.2 to PHP 5.3, i was forced to update my joomla version from 1.5.7 to 1.5.23. As far as i can see, since then i have two problems:
1. When i try to upload a gallery zip: UNKNOWNARCHIVETYPE Gallery upload error: Cannot extract archive!
2. Also the "normal" K2 Item Picture can not be saved.
So, now i do not have the gallery and i do not have the item picture!
File/Folder permissions are set ok (777, images/stories, Media/k2,) ....
PLEASE HELP!
