I need to get this working on a Joomlart template specifically.

The free version conflicts.. My best guess is that its because both are based on the 'Mootools Ajax framework'

Before I buy the Pro version, I would like to know if there is a work-around to this problem?

Yeap, as Aravot said, it's not released yet, it's gonna be released on Sunday.

But, good news are that SIG Pro utilizes 3 (!) popup engines based on Mootools, jQuery and AJS, so people will always have alternatives and avoid conflicts ;)
