Hi,

Is there a way to put a description for the gallery instead of captions for individual images?

I am using single thumbnail mode - I have several images for a particular event and I need to have a short description of this event beside the single thumbnail.

Do this trick:
forum.joomlaworks.net/index.php?topic=646.0

...and then simply add the text in your content item like this:

{gallery}folder{/gallery}A nice description about the gallery here.
