Since I don't see any way of obtaining the current Pro version, do I assume that upgrades are not included in the original purchase price?

All upgrades in the PRO version (for series 1.x) are totally free and sent to all customers automatically via email. If you did not get the latest 1.2 version, just email JoomlaWorks and request to resend it to you. You probably got it already but it might had ended up in some spam folder. ;)
