[Solved] Thumbnails problem was created by Xenocyde

Hi there,

I read the FAQ and changed the permissions to Joomla's cache folder, but I still can't get most of the thumbnails to show properly. Moreover, when I try to add a gallery to some pages, all I get is a blank page. Any other solutions? Sorry I didn't have time to search the entire forum for related topics :(

I managed to search the forum for related problems and read some threads. I only found one post which gives a solution albeit not a satisfactory one. Someone found out that resizing the images would work. I don't really want to resize them to <500 width as they would be too small. I also found SOLVED threads, but there's no actual solution posted. Can anyone please provide clear guidelines to whatever needs to be done so that people who have this problem can fix it themselves instead of creating new threads for nothing?

Check your sites memory limit and increase it in case it is low. This may be the problem in your case.

My php memory limit is 32 MB. Should it be higher?

It should be if your images are of the size of MBytes per page.

Are you sure this is the problem? I have to contact my host as the php.ini can be modiefied only by the host provider. Would 128 MB suffice?

Could you enable the debug mode inside the plugin and see what error you get in that page, just to be sure that this is your problem?

This was are issue which fixed the problem. PHP.ini file :-)

I enabled the debug mode but I see no error message in any of the pages in which the thumbnails don't show.

www.noroc.org.ro The problem is in Programe -> Prieteni Inimosi and Invatatori si Profesori Inimosi. Also, when I try to make a gallery in Scoala te asteapta and Casa Noastra, all I get is a blank page.

L.E.: I contacted my host provider and they won't raise the limit unless I get a 30 euro VPS host as opposed to my 5 euro subscription I have now. Any other suggestions?

Come on people, I paid for this! Either I get some clear guidelines or I will ask for a full refund. I can't believe you treat your customers with such indifference.

Your images should have .jpg extension and not .JPG to appear in the gallery.

I changed the extension from JPG to jpg and the thumbs are working now. Thanks for that. The problem with the blank pages is still there. What do I do about those?

I see patience isn't getting me anywhere. If I don't have a solution for the blank pages by the end of the day, I may be forced to use some other gallery plugin and ask for a full refund. Customer support... meh!

For that you will need to increase the memory limit. Could you try uploading a gallery with a smaller number of photos to see if it loads then and be certain that this is your problem for this?

Some galleries have only 3 or 6 images, i don't think this is the problem. For example, I put only one image in "Scoala te asteapta" instead of three and it works now.

Ok, I think I found the problem. Some images were over 4MB and I think the gallery can handle <2MB images.
