The Module worked perfectly.... was created by Paul Schmehl
Then I switched to SSL. Now, I get this:
Warning: fopen(): SSL operation failed with code 1. OpenSSL Error messages: error:14090086:SSL routines:ssl3_get_server_certificate:certificate verify failed in /usr/home/schmehl/Sites/www.vvfh.org/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 335 Warning: fopen(): Failed to enable crypto in /usr/home/schmehl/Sites/www.vvfh.org/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 335 Warning: fopen(https://blog.vvfh.org/feed/): failed to open stream: operation failed in /usr/home/schmehl/Sites/www.vvfh.org/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 335
And this:
Warning

JFile: :read: Unable to open file: https://blog.vvfh.org/feed/
I'm using a wildcard cert with three virtual hosts all running on the same IP: www, blog, and wiki.vvfh.org. I started getting the latter error when I switched to SSL. I edited the module to point to blog.vvfh.org , and the second error popped up.

I'm not sure why the cert can't be verified, unless the verification code is looking for blog.vvfh.org in the cert instead of *.vvfh.org.

UPDATE: I just noticed this will looking through the module configuration page.

I solved the problem by configuring Wordpress to force ssl for logins and all admin pages and allow http for everything else. That allows me to use blog.vvfh.org/feed for the rss feed. So, now it's working again.

After some more research, the problem appears to be with this module. I installed a competitor's module, and it worked fine with SSL. I uninstalled it, for reasons I won't go into here, but I'd like to see this module get fixed so it works with SSL. How do I go about doing that?

The above error is being raised from Joomla! core files.
Is there a link to your site I can see?

Sure. The Joomla site is www.vvfh.org . The RSS feed is displayed on the home page. Right now it's blog.vvfh.org/feed/rss2 , because blog.vvfh.org/feed/rss2 breaks the module.

If you have the module running somewhere, you can enter the feed and see how it works for you. That would help determine if the problem is in the module, or in Joomla. But another module that I installed worked fine with blog.vvfh.org/feed/rss2 , so I don't think it's a Joomla issue.

Right now, you can view the feed in either http or https. I'm not forcing ssl, because of this problem.

Disregard the hideous styling, jmp.sh/8ucUuve
It seems to work fine on my end, I used these settings jmp.sh/lj7ATR5

I'm getting a similar error on this page:
www.footlevelers.com/about/foot-levelers-media-room

Everything has been working for a few months, then it stopped working suddenly. Joomla has not been updated in a while and it was working with SSL for the past few months. This error was not happening 1-2 weeks ago when I last worked on this page... so it's popped up only recently:

The feeds above were HTTPS but I just tried removing force HTTPS on the blog for now but no difference. If you try browsing to each feed individually, it loads fine.

Any ideas??
