Problem with the & Character was created by woody657
Hi

I tried looking for this issue and could not find anything.
I am using the Simple RSS Feed Reader and everything was working fine.
Then one day using the feed:
www.highways.gov.uk/rssfeed/SouthEast.xml

It displays the feed ok and the story etc but when you click on the URL for the story it does not work. After a quick look the URL seems to have loads of "&" characters in and these have all been lost. If you take the url and add the &'s back in it works fine.
Maybe the Highways agency have started using "&" charachters in their URL from the feed now, but why is this module stripping them out? Any ideas?

I have since tried another feed plugin and the problem exists there as well maybe its the highways agency, however I emailed them a week ago and they have not got back to me.

Cheers Woody

Woody,
I had the same problem with feed i was using. You can't use the & symbol in RSS feeds. You must use this instead &

So the term;
Me & You
Should be like this in the feed;
Me & You

If you want to use that feed, you need to contact the website and tell them that!

John.

Hi John,

Thanks for confirming that, I thought that must be the case. It was working then stopped.
I also tried a few other modules with the same effect. I will mail them again and see what the response is.

Woody
