RSS feeds make webpage loading slow was created by tazboy
Adding an RSS feed significantly slows down my website load time. Every time I click on a link it takes about 4 times longer to load. I remove the RSS and it's back to normal. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks.

Go to module settings and at Cache refresh time (in minutes) put 20. This will improve the performance of your site.

What about running multiple instances of the Feed Reader module on one page?  I'm doing this and it has become very slow.  It must take longer to pull more feeds, but is there a way to speed it up?  By cleaning the cache?  Or some other method..?

Is there a limit on how many instances can/should be used, or number of total feeds per page?

This helped speed the entire site up completely:

Go to Global Config / System / Cache Settings and turn on cache (plus cache the module). I'm guessing 10 - 30 minutes is good..?  Sped up Feed Reader quite well, although it seems the page needs to be visited once before the cache is taken..?

;D

I used to have the same problem and after inquiring with my host i found out that it was their configuration for my particular server that slowed things down. I worked with them in order to change it.

Hello, can you tell me what was the specific configuration the host changed for the server?

Am having a problem with my webhost right now, the webpage sometimes loads extremely slow, going into 500 server errors, because of the RSS reader. When I de-enabled the RSS reader the website loads normal, even fast.

Ask them to check the permissions.

This issue has to do with your server administrator and not with our product. Contact your hosting company, send them the error you get, and ask them to help you.
