reCaptcha not loading after update to v2.5.7

Category: English K2 Community

My re-Captcha problem is fixed. I've created a new key at 'google.com/recaptcha/' my previous key was set only to work on my old site as I transfered my old site to a new domain.

Created a new key under my new site 'www.tutbase.com' and now all is working.
Maybe this'll be a solution for others who have this problem? Cause I've been looking for a solution for more than 5 months but this fixed my problem!

Hi,

I've got the same problem and followed your instruction but still the re-captcha is not showing.
You say: Disable the Captcha -ReCaptcha component in the Joomla Component Manager.
But in the component manager I don't see something with the re-captcha....so I think you ment the plugin manager.
However......re-chaptcha is still not working.

Any other solutions or suggestions?

K2 Comments not working or loading

Category: English K2 Community

I was having the same problem. This is what worked for me. In K2 parameters click on the comments tab and check NO for "Enable reCaptcha in comments" . If you would like to keep this option enable you have to provide additional parameters in the advanced tab. The reCaptcha public and private key which you can create by going to this link www.google.com/recaptcha .

Hope this helps!

All the best!

[SOLVED] Re: reCaptcha not working

Category: English K2 Community

Hi I encountered a similar problem and found the solution as follows:

The new version of Joomla - 2.5 has a captcha form element built in - which is great. However, if you install K2 (2.5.6) this also uses the same ReCaptcha element. Unless you get the settings just right the two will conflict in strange ways. In order for the system to work you need to follow these three steps:
  1. Disable the Captcha -ReCaptcha component in the Joomla Component Manager
  2. Go to the User Manager and then to the Options (Users Configuration) and set Captcha to be "none selected"
  3. Go to the K2 configuration and enable Captcha and enter your public and private keys.

If you don't follow all three steps, then both captcha's will be used but only one will be displayed (the K2 one I think) and you will get error messages similar to this:

"The words you typed did not match the ones displayed. Please try again."

Or if you disable just the K2 Captcha then you get this error message:

Empty solution not allowed.

Getting spam through ReCaptcha

Category: English K2 Community

One of our sites is getting spammed about every 25 minutes with about 10 spam comments. We have ReCaptcha enabled and I have tested it to find it working correctly. How can we still be getting spammed?

One thing I noticed is that we have one real comment from user on one of our K2 items. All of the spam comments are made on that same K2 item. Is there some kind of exploit where bots can use existing comments to throw in their own? I just unpublished that comment for now to see if that helps, but any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Also, we're running Joomla 1.5.25 and K2 1.5.4

Recaptcha Language on K2

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I dont know how to change the Language for the Recaptcha option on the Comments Form of K2.

The reCAPTCHA Documentation of Google (code.google.com/intl/de-DE/apis/recaptcha/docs/customization.html) says I have to add this code right before I call the recptcha:
<script type="text/javascript"> var RecaptchaOptions = { lang : 'es', }; </script>

I tried to add this in the "item_comments_form.php" file, but it is not working. Could anyone help me please?? :(

Thank you

ReCaptcha in Registration

Category: English K2 Community

Thanks for replying so quickly! I use K2 2.4.1, and I prefer not to update it to 2.5 because I have edited so much the original code that I would loose all that I did if I update it.

But maybe the solution is in V2.5. Might it be possible to pass some snippets or files from that version to mine only to get the ReCaptcha working in the registration form?

What do you think? If so, what should I pass?

ReCaptcha in Registration

Category: English K2 Community

How do I install ReCaptcha in the registration form?

I read this solution from the former forum, but it doesn't work for me. They ask me to install "reCAPTCHA Integrator Plugin". I did, but like it mentions in that thread, the plugin generates a conflict with the ReCaptcha in the comment forrm. I could deactivate the ReCaptcha from K2, and use the plugin both in the registration and comment form, but then EVERYONE would have to use ReCaptcha when commenting, not only guests. That doesn't work for me.

I tried to edit the code of register.php to add Recaptcha following this steps and I got it to appear in the form, but I didn't get it to work. It didn't matter what you typed in the ReCaptcha, you always got validated.

What can I do? Has anyone been able to get this working with no bugs?

THE PROBLEM IS SPAMMERS ARE CREATING ACCOUNTS IN MY SITE TO LINK PORN SITES FROM THEIR PROFILES !

Comments not working well

Category: English K2 Community

OK here is what I see.  Non-registered users see the full comments form and reCaptcha information.  Registered users see the comments form, the name and email is already filled in and not accessible with a line for any url website and no captcha option showing.  Is that normal operation?

One other thing.  I have it set so the comments have to OK'd before they get published.  Does anyone of the administrators get an email when a comment is posted so we know to check it or do we just have to go and check comments once a day?  Not sure how that works and could not find any settings in parameters for that.

Thanks for the help

Captcha not working in comments after database clean up of comments

Category: English K2 Community

I had captcha working in the comments section after finding it not enabled and there where 86,000 spam comments.  Just took over this site and I had to fix that.  Did the enable and got public and private keys from recaptcha at google and it worked.  I then went to the mysql database and the comments table was full like I said.  I emptied the comments and then went back to the site and found that the comments section was not showing up on my items.  I went in to parameters and changed the setting from registered only users to everyone.  Now the comment form shows up but no captcha.  I have two bugs now.  No captcha and when I turn the comments form to registered users only it does not show up when a registered user logs in.

Help...fairly new to joomla

site is www.fxcrc.org

Just tested again by disabling the comments and then enabling it (saved each change) and if set for registered users only it does not show up.  The parameters for registered users is correct that they can leave comments.  If I set it for everyone then the form shows up but no captcha.

Is the area where you see the person who is leaving the comments name and their email suppose to be not editable?  I see my name and email but no way to change it.
