Free tagging (with auto complete) flashes for one second (SOLVED)

Category: English K2 Community

Hi Lefteri nad thanks for your reply.
So if I disable the mootools upgrade plugin (System - Mootools Upgrade), it will resolve the problem?
And what is the SVN version?

Will K2 2.4 support Joomla 1.6 ACLs?

Category: English K2 Community

As far as I am aware, 2.4 will not have any additional changes to its ACL.

How far off is Alpha J1.6 release?
Another couple of months at least is what I have been told from inside the 1.6 dev camp, that will be all dependent on if Joomla team leader continue to upset the community devs that I keep hearing about.

For those that have existing sites on 1.5, i guess there will be a slow migration to 1.6 whilst they ensure an easy upgrade.
Other extension devs will be cautious to wait and ensure that enough details are available to assist in upgrading their products to 1.6
I wonder how many of the main core extension will actually be ready when 1.6 is released.

JACL just seems a bit clunky to me at the moment and personally would prefer to stick with 1.5 and k2 acl until something solid is available.

Assuming you want are wanting to do this in the item view
Search for -- Item extra fields -- in item.php
Comment the line below it containing echo extraField -> name

Check out simon.getk2.org/component/k2/item/91-templating
If you do this first, then you can have a custom view and your changes wont be overwritten when you upgrade k2

Urgent Menu item assignment bug! [VERY IMPORTANT]

Category: English K2 Community

well ur not the bearing of bad things. I RATHER have it be something else instead of k2 since my entire site runs on k2 and it's not something i can just uninstall u know.

Anyhow, I run the latest version of k2 and the only thing that COULD interfere with this is sh404sef. I'm using rockettheme templates and I JUST upgraded to another one hoping that it would fix the issue but it didn't. I'm making use of the "menu-less pages" feature. If i turn that off it doesn't make a difference either.

Here's an example. I have a category called Blu-ray. In that category i have 2 more categories called Cat A and Cat B. They both have items in them. Now on the homepage these 2 items are displayed (amongst many others). If i click Item 1 from Cat A, I go to a page without any modules. On my menu none of the items are selected.

Now let's say I click Item 2 from Cat B, I go to a page with all my homepage modules and the Home button in the menu is selected... I have NO freaking clue what is going on. Both categories inherit parameters from the same category and all the settings are the same for both of them.. i have no idea why this is happening.

EDIT: apparently in this new template the menu-less pages thing does make a difference. Now that i turned it off, all items are showing the modules from the home menu item... but i don't want that either -__-... Oh well better than that crappyness

Brent Friar said:What else do you have installed? What version of K2 are you using? Does it do the same thing with one of the stock Joomla templates? I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but this is probably not a K2 issue. I run over a dozen sites equipped with K2 both 2.2 and 2.3 and none of them have this issue. Module display works predictably and consistently on all of them.

Menu link to multiple categories - bug?

Category: English K2 Community

Somethings not right. If I choose to link to a K2 category I can choose a single or multiple categories right? Okay so choosing a single category and hit apply I see the link change to  index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category&task=category&id=53 (in admin Area) - fine it's choosing an ID.
IF I choose more than one category and hit apply I get this link created:
index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category

Is is suposed to do that? - the link is useless as it carries no category ID info so it just goes to the home page - would this be Joomla doing this?

I'm Using K2 2.3 and Joomla 1.5.20 (not was running slightly older Joomla 1.5.17 and upgraded but don't know if this was happening before that)

Image upload doesn't work

Category: English K2 Community

Hey guys, I was using k2 2.2 then I got this error so I upgraded to 2.3 but still have the error. When I am creating/editing an item in either the front or back end and I add an image via the image tab, the site takes ages to upload it (on local WAMP install, file size ~ 1.5mb, type: jpg) then when it finally does, the screen goes blank. After I refresh the page I can see the image is there fine, but then when I go back into edit the item and am on the image tab the thumbnail of the image doesn't show.
Also when I add a relevant zip file to the image gallery tab and try to upload it the site returns a 403 error. Can't see any other problems at all on the site.

Any help or ideas of things to check would be great.

Have you upgraded k2 since you installed sig?

Authors: Let me get this straight...

Category: English K2 Community

So to Show an author profile, you need to:A) have a registered User to set the 'Created by' to (even if the author is just a dummy registration that's not putting the stories up)
B) NOT use the author alias filed or the author info on the articles and author link will not work (no matter how you've configured it).

Now that's fine, I can live with that but WHY if author alias IS used, does it put a link on it to go to home? Wouldn't it make more sense - If your not going to allow it to go to a profile then don't have a link on it at all?

I love K2 and all but it's these little nit picky things that grind my gears (end rant). Here's what I think is needed to make it a further outstanding CMS.

•More flexibility on the authors/author alias usage (parameter - if using alias, link to author set up but use alias name for show)
•Video - option to use main uploaded image as a video thumbnail parameter
•Video - more flexible options to "upgrade" the player or at least offer a pay for pro version that gives us the plug-ins needed
•RSS listing of the feeds created from your content with the option to 'swap' out with the likes of Feedburner (or gives us stats)
•Ability to add extra fields with a position call so they can be added individually to the template, and to show no label (say I wanted a sub heading on an article to go under the main title)
• Better SEF URL system integration (404sef and others) - in 404sef I can choose joomla content to put google News IDs on but not K2 content

These would make it a better all around system. I've waited a year to the point of believing it is usable (and now it is) and can't wiat to see what the next version brings to the table.
