K2 version 3 will come out when it's ready to. Gripeing & whining about it's not being out, not on time, no replies & so forth. This behaviour will not make it come out any earilier.

If you're not satisfied, here's things you can do :

1- Go use some other component... (I'm sure you'll be back here soon enough.)
2- Join the team & help them go faster ( but you better be good coder)
3- Use the actual version & adapt as best you can... that's what I'm doing & heaven knows if I haven't hacked K2 all over. I get the results using my neurons and adapting the code to my needs. You can't, then pay a developper to do it for you
4- Can't help, can't pay ? Then just a nice supporting comment always helps. Rubbing in overdue delays certainly doesn't help give confidence to the crew and just gets morale down a notch, hence hindering developement. Rather counterproductive.

So, please, stop complaining, it doesn't help anyone and doesn't change facts. V3 ain't out yet ? Well, it will be out when it's ready. so WAIT ! and stop crying

Everybody appreciates the fact that K2 has been provided for FREE and the time and effort put in to create it.

I have purchased several plugins/components from JW over the years and would have paid for K2 if it were a paid component without any issue.

I would have donated towards K2 if there had been a donate button to use at the start of the project. I have donated to many FREE components and ALWAYS upgrade to the paid version if I continue to use it when a paid version is available.

I think the current version is great as does everybody else that use it.

I and many others are NOT complaining about the delays in V3 being released.

The concern (not complaint) is simply the severe lack of updates to the K2 community and the fact that these concerns are being ignored by JW......What is wrong with a simple "Sorry, we got the planning wrong and will need more time to get this out"....its really simple and polite....The impression that is given out is that the users do not deserve this simple courtesy.

Other developers of free components do this without issue.

I am to start new project based on profiling. I think K2 will go fine. I never used before. I have 3 questions to ask:

1. What is problem is K2 that people here are waiting for K3?

2. Is K2 good for Search engines?

3. Will I be able to upgrade to K3 without using my profiles.

After comparing files I see that even though the backend says its 2.7 and the files have it at the top, the changes on the patch page were not implemented. Adding them fixed it.
However I am seeing another issue apparently caused by 2.7: typing in the title box is invisible. It appears this to be caused by this :in the media assets k2 css file: .k2TitleBox {
box-sizing: border-box;
width: 100%;
font-size: 14px !important;
padding: 10px 10px !important;}
Is this something new to 2.7 (so far as i know we hadn't touched it)? It seems to conflict with the Isis media template.

We are having this same problem in Joomla 3.4.4.It also will not allow us to type in the title field. But the K2 Version is already 2.7 and the JCE patch did not help. Turning off JCE does not help. I

You can try to see if this solves your issue.

Sounds like a javascript issue, so make sure that the global K2 params have the default settings for jQuery front and backend.

I have had loads of issues if I dont use the default K2 jquery settings you get on a first time K2 install. Really hope this gets fixed in v3 as I dont want to be loading another version of jquery if i dont need to.

While I give the below advice, please take a backup before you do so.....I have found K2 2.6.9 to be very buggy and lots of little issues...(it hasnt been upgraded for a very long time either). So try getting the latest 2.7.0 dev build (downloadable from here: (use the link in the info text NOT the github download button) github.com/joomlaworks/k2 )

K2 - 2.6.9

FRONTEND: Since upgraded - Pressing Save or Cancel - Noresponse.

CAN NOT do anything with K2 item from the frontend.

Please Help ..

This is actually the result of a bug in K2, which will be fixed in K2 2.7.
I have however made some changes to the System - JCE plugin to prevent this error.

Replace jce.php in /plugins/system/jce/ with the file in the attached zip.

Sorry to sound a little negative, but in all the posts about K2 v3 you guys have stated how there will be no issues with upgrading from K2 2.6.9 etc to K2 3.0.

The trouble is for me, I have been taking an Akeeba Backend and setting up test sites for maybe 9 months now, and every time I install the latest K2 v3 dev from GitHub, it brings my entire website down (not just K2 related page).

I cannot access the frontend or the backend. All I get is blank white pages with error messages.

Here is the error message i get on my most recent attempt:

I have been using K2 for so so so many years and been developing Joomla sites for even longer...so i am a little worried that upgrading to K2 v3 dev brings my entire website down! I have also tried taking (for example) a JoomlArt recent quickstart template package that has K2 support/installed, and tried to upgrade to latest K2 v3 dev, and the same thing happens.

1) How can I fix the above issue

2) How to stop this from happening in the future?

after upgrade to Joomla 3.4.4. a pop up message "item must have a title" appears whenever

- trying to open and edit a k2 article
- trying to save a k2 article

How can I get rid of this nasty message window?

We build websites for businesses and smaller corporations. Anytime we need to organize content K2 is our go to extension. We have used it for portfolios, to property listings, to blogs.

Sounds like we can upgrade from 2.6.9 to 3.0 easily we can get started.
