"Item must have a title" error after J3.4 upgrade

Category: English K2 Community

Yes the above solution worked for me. Here are the steps I took:

1. Downloaded a copy of the K2 dev master zip file from the link above. You can also download the absolute latest from this link which seems to contain a few more fixes... github.com/joomlaworks/k2/archive/master.zip

2. Extracted the zip file to my /webroot/tmp folder and used the Install from Directory feature of the Extensions Manager. You might also be able to to just upload the master.zip file like any other extension but I don't know because I didn't try it.

Make sure you take a backup first!

"Item must have a title" error after J3.4 upgrade

Category: English K2 Community

Hello,

I have the same problem for editing K2 Items.

My dev env is quite recent. I have downloaded latest Joomla 3.r.1 and K2 yesterday. No sample data is installed but multilingual with two languages. I really need this.

K2 Item and Category create edit view and web site front end working without any problems with two languages.

But K2 Item editing always pops up "Item must have a title" message.

How to solve this? what to try? The fix above ? Please explain how to?

Thanks

Missing K2 Dashboard

Category: English K2 Community

Krikor, thank you. I should have stated that I have been the administrator of my own joomla site since Joomla version 1.5 in 2011. I also upgraded from 1.5 to 2.5 later. And now I am on 3.4.1. So I do know about how to enable a module. I was tired and frustrated when I posted (which is no excuse, I know) after trying to figure out why it would not enable. Clicking on the red dot or selecting (checkmarking) and then clicking on publish gives a message that the module successfully published. However, it obviously did not.

I thought it might be a permissions problem, but when I opened the module in module manager and checked permissions for administrator, the 'green allowed' shows up for all actions.

I then thought that it was the .htaccess file that is created using Admin Tools. So I added the directory modules/mod_k2_quickicons to the list in the field for 'Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories'

Still not working. I need to do the same for my backend with the K2 stats module, but figured that how to do that will be the same process that enables the K2 Quick Icons. Whatever that process is to get it working...

Any ideas of what else I can do to get the K2 Dashboard?

Missing K2 Dashboard

Category: English K2 Community

I am just setting up K2 for the first time - wanting it for my upgraded Joomla! 3.4 site. I have been looking at tutorials to attempt to set up and use.

Different tutorials show using the K2 Dashboard, which I don't have. I saw one tutorial go through installation and set up and showed the two administration modules - K2 stats and K2 icons. It was shown that they needed to be enabled. So I checked, found the modules and set them to be published and saved. When I go into the modules, it clearly shows the green published buttons for each. But in the modules listing, it does not have the green checkmark. Instead it has the round red circle. And I still do not have the K2 dashboard when I go to the control panel. I do have the dropdown menu.

Is there something else I am supposed to do?

Thank you in advance.

Joomla 3.4 K2 Fatal Error

Category: English K2 Community

On the front end my blog layout is funky since I've upgraded K2 and Joomla to 3.4
jim-sharp.com/index.php/resources/blog
There should be 2 columns for the primary count. It seems to be making a column but no articles are showing up. The additional pages at the very bottom are also vertical and before looked neat and were horizontal.

In the backend
When I hit save in a Category with the debugging on I get some version of this message:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 31981568) (tried to allocate 42 bytes) in /homepages/26/d355661528/htdocs/jimsharp/administrator/components/com_finder/helpers/indexer/stemmer/snowball.php on line 128
Without debugging on :
500 Internal Server Error
Though I do see the changes reflected when I hit the back button. But, the problem on the front end doesn't go away.

Issue Resolved: Somehow when I upgraded to 3.4.0 it turned on User Registrations and I had 30,000+ bogus users that had signed up. I deleted all the users and now K2 is working properly. There may still be a problem with sites that have alot of legitimate users. I'm thinking the problem is that K2 is trying to load all those users into the drop down menu and it's crashing. Might be a good idea to set some sort of record limit to prevent this on other sites.

Yes. When I click to edit or create a K2 document I get a blank screen. I recently upgraded to Joomla 3.4.0. I have also tried reinstalling the latest K2 and it's still occurring.

k2 install Warning Table k2_categories doesn't exist

Category: English K2 Community

Thanks, Krikor!

I originally used Hostgator's cPanel Quickinstall of Joomla 3.3.6, which I successfully upgraded to J3.4.0, then I successfully installed sh404sef via Extension Manager, using mod_rewrite via the J3..4.0 htaccess.txt setup. I am highly impressed with Hostgator support, and that all seemed to work fine with my first couple articles. Installing k2 was my first glitch.

cPanel File Manager edit of configuration.php shows
public $log_path = '/home2/tmccully/public_html/logs';
public $tmp_path = '/home2/tmccully/public_html/tmp';

Earlier I did delete one leftover /tmp file from it per your advice elsewhere.
I also just used file manager to create the /logs folder. It seems very odd I should have to do so.

Both tmp and logs are permission 0755
public_html/tmp is empty.

There is no K2 anywhere to be uninstalled as far as I can see. No plugin, no module. phpMyAdmin shows no K2 named tables, 74 others.

Attempted Extension manager reinstall of K2_v2.6.9.zip as downloaded. Same result.

Ok, I did some poking around and discovered that the problem was with Simple Image Gallery Pro. All the articles with the [gallery][/gallery] tags were breaking K2. So I upgraded the component and it was still breaking K2. So then I disabled the component and all plugins for Simple Image Gallery Pro and everything works normally now.

Any ideas why Simple Image Gallery Pro is breaking K2? I upgraded K2 to the latest and Simple Image Gallery Pro is upgraded to the latest.

Finally i managed to reproduce the issue. It occurs when the module multilingual status is enabled and the system debugger is disabled.

This commit solves the issue: github.com/joomlaworks/k2/commit/4bbfd5cf0cf3911dbbf5393a4bcd882ec111ff99

Thank you all for your valuable feedback.

Blank white screen after upgrading php and k2

Category: English K2 Community

Hi, I'm using Joomla 2.5.27. I just upgraded my PHP from 5.3 to 5.4 and upgraded K2 from 2.6.7 to 2.6.9. I have 2 menu items that display 2 different K2 categories. These 2 menu items now display a blank white page. Can anyone please help me?

"Item must have a title" error after J3.4 upgrade

Category: English K2 Community

I can confirm this fixes the issue for me. I have a site with en-GB and zh-TW. Using the ISIS template on the backend. Tried disabling all manner of extensions to no avail.

Issue:
Open any K2 item and just before the item paeg is rendered, get the javascript alert "Item must have a title".

Go to Module Manager, display Admin modules, disable Multilanguage Status, confirm the alert does not occur.

Using Joomla 3.4, K2 2.6.9, Gantry 4.1.28, RT Iridescent theme 1.1, a bunch of misc extensions.

Cheers

The version is 3.3.6 because the upgrade to 3.4 failed twice to install. I have talked 2 people who had the same problem with 3.4 and had to recover the full system to earlier versions. The reasons have not been figured out. That problem was one that was reported as bugs in the RC of 3.4.
I hope an answer comes up or else I'll have to start over without K2 which I would prefer not to do.
Time to start disabling extensions, ones that all worked together nicely before the aborted upgrade....

I cannot verify the issue yet. For me everything works fine.

@Giancarlo Agrati

Can you provide more details on this or the exact steps you took? I just made a fresh install of Joomla! 3.4, enabled two languages, enabled the multilingual status module and installed K2 and everything keeps working fine for me.

I got the same solution.
I had a multilanguage site with Greek and English in J3.3.6 and K2 v2.6.9 and everything was ok with "multilanguage status" module enabled.
I updated to J3.4 and i started getting the message.
I disable the "multilanguage status" module, and now the problem is gone.

What Happened to K2 3.0?

Category: English K2 Community

OK, Joomla 3.5 will be the next major upgrade for Joomla and 3.4 was just released, so I would expect it will be another couple of months or perhaps this summer before Joomla 3.5 will be released. Is JoomlaWorks working with Joomla to get K2 3.0 ready for the release of Joomla 3.5. Being left in the dark isn't comfortable. I am also aware that the primary developers of Joomla are very ill right now, and that is slowing the progress of the Joomla releases:

During Late Dec 2014, Jan and early Feb 2015 there has been reduced support and updates from Joostrap due to founders and primary operators of the Joostrap.com site, Phil and Max, both being very sick.

Just before Christmas Phil had a recurrence of a serious old back injury and is still out of action in early February, almost two months later - still unable to sit and on a range of medicines and restrictions trying to get him recovered. Soon afterwards in early January I (Max) got a chest infection, which turned into pneumonia in both lungs ... and my brain and body haven't worked properly since ... but starting to recover from 11 Feb. Please bare with me while we continue recovering and catch up.

We're hoping to catch up with all support and get things back to normal ASAP

I got my load times down to 3.5 seconds just with the install of JOTCache, the Joomla System Cache replacement plugin, so I am resting a little easier right now.

I have to really address mobile, and right now K2 isn't the mobile friendliest Content Manager out of the box. This is the reason that I was looking forward to K2 3.0 because one of the primary design goals was to make it mobile friendly. I am also thinking about kicking Bootstrap, 2.3.2 or 3.3.2 to the curb, because of the huge load time overhead that represents.

Is K2 going to be embracing Bootstrap going forward, or is it going to provide that as an option, or is it going to implement LESS, jQuery/JavaScript in it's own fashion. I can get rid of Bootstrap in Joomla by just not including JHtml::_('bootstrap.framework'), will I be able to do that with K2 as well?

@Lefteris

The problem occurs when the Multilingual is active only.

To see the problem just download Joomla 3.4 install it and activate 2 different languages.

Install k2 only and the problem is generated without any other extensions.
