Problem after Joomla Template upgrade

Hi

I am getting the following error after installing a new template from Joomlashine

"Notice: Use of undefined constant K2_JVERSION - assumed 'K2_JVERSION' in /home/radicalviews/public_html/plugins/system/k2/k2.php on line 32

Fatal error: Class 'K2HelperHTML' not found in /home/radicalviews/public_html/plugins/system/k2/k2.php on line 55"

I reinstalled K2 and Template - cleared cache but no progress.

I know I can uninstall K2 and reinstall again. But worried about losing content. I do have Akeeba backup.

Can anyone advise of a a fix for this?

Hello Tom,

Joomla! 3.0.1 is an outdated version, you should upgrade to 3.1.1.

Your problem is caused from a JS conflict with CKeditor's scripts. One of their scripts 'hides' #extraFieldsContainer using a display: none.

You can bring this issue to their attention and wait for an upgrade. For the time being you can 'hack' their CSS files and insert a snippet like this.

Hello Grant,

First thing, please upgrade asap (at least update Joomla! core) there are several security issues.

I would take the following steps in your position

Upgrade Joomla! to 2.5.11
Look for a template upgrade (if there is you should upgrade K2 as well)
Look for any JS conflicts using your browser's developer tools.
Contact your hosting provider for any possible server issues.

I upgraded K2 to version 2.5.5, which solved my problem.

But now there's way more serious problem: i cannot save an article... if i try to modify an existing article or when i create a new article, pressing "Save" brings a white screen (some PHP error i guess)... it'a a shame because the fix in the items view starts from this version... (2.5.4 doesn't have it)

Can anyone help me?

Hi,

I upgraded K2 and after that this essage displays in frontend:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method K2Parameter::bind() in /.../administrator/components/com_k2/lib/k2parameter.php on line 6

It's a Joomla 3.1.1 site.

What happened?

It very strange, but after several hours, K2 menu item displayed without my intervention...
I installed K2 many times on many sites before, but I have never seen same issue before.

You told me it works fine on all your other installations, so did you follow any different steps this time?


Usually, I install K2 after joomla installation. But this time, I have installed couple components and plugins: FlexiContact, Jdownloads, Advanced Module Manager, JCE, Xmap, SEO Links, e.t.c.

Any other extension you have not used in your other sites?


Yes, FlexiContact and Jdownloads I use only on this site.

Is this the first install or is was it an upgrade and finally did you unistall K2 at some point and reinstalled it.


First install. But after I got this issue I tried to reinstall several times.

Have you disabled any K2 plugins?


No, never.

I just upgraded k2 from 2.6.5 -- to 2.6.6 and My template overrides didnt seem to work. After spending some time searching and trying to figure out the problem, I updated CSS4K2 and it fixed the problem.

Hope this helps somebody else.

Unfortunately I am not able to reproduce the issue.

You told me it works fine on all your other installations, so did you follow any different steps this time?

I am sorry I have not used k2 import component.

I am not sure that you need it as well. Using jUpgrade will upgrade your site to 2.5.x or 3.1.x. The latest versions of K2 are compatible with this versions so you wont have any hassle upgrading.

Restore a working backup and try again using only jUpgrade or AdminTools.

Hello you should also upgrade to K2 2.6.6 as 2.5.4 is a really old version.

Backup first, make sure your template and extensions supports the latest version of K2 and upgrade.

Hi Guys, I upgraded an old site thinking the latest K2 and joomla will solve the problem of 1000+ comments from botnets even with re-captcha on.

I see its a common topic when i google it but there is no concrete solution other than making the commeting only available to registered users.

I installed the k2 2.6.6 versio, but i dont see in the conntect, that it was upgraded the k2 nivo slider.

Copying just the tables will cause a lot of issues. If you are migrating from Joomla! 1.5 to Joomla! 2.5 you are highly recommended to use a tool like jUpgrade.

There is a service cms2cms (I think) but I have not used it.

I would try disabling all extensions apart from the really major ones and use use Admin Tools to upgrade my site.

If you are familiar with DBs you can migrate all the K2 tables and the users as well or you might find something that suits your needs in this thread .

You should upgrade your overrides, it is possible you are using outdated overrides for mod_k2_user.

Peter, Krikor,

THank you fro your suggestions. I have checked impact of the upgrade of Joomla and K2 on the original template. THis works as expected. I am currently checking the plugins/components to see if this is the cause.

I will provide an update once this is completed.
