Hi,

I have a categories list (Menu) module set up with K2 Tools and I need to set an ID on the UL tag so I can get my responsive menu to work.

In the Joomla menu modules it is in the Advanced settings, but this is not available in the K2 module.

I have looked through the settings and can't find an option for this, and I've also looked for a template file to use in overrides but so far have drawn a blank.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

I did what you told me although I didn’t remember having installed any “System” type plugin explicitly. I thought maybe a plugin could have been installed together with another extension.
So I sorted the plugins in reverse order on the Id, thinking I would get the newest first. I selected only the “System” type plugins. The list was not too long and I went through your procedure for all of them (except for the Joomla ones), disabling them one by one, and checking the menu edit page. The problem was always there, and I never saw the nice black border I hoped to see ):
I then remembered that I had met the same problem quite a long time ago with a menu of K2 tags, but it didn’t really bother me at the time. So I tried now to create a new menu element in a menu of tags, and the problem was exactly the same.
So I am still asking for help ):

Simply enable "related items" in each of the K2 Categories that you want to show them (in their items, after the main content).

Be sure to use tags in your K2 items, so K2 can filter related items by tag relevancy.

Although I'm already working on an improved URL router for K2 v2.11.0 (to be released in February) which will allow K2 to have better/simpler URLs, here's what you can do for now.

- Create a menu item pointing to all K2 categories. You can do that in a menu that does not show in the site's frontend (a hidden menu). Give this menu item a generic alias, e.g. "content".
- In the K2 component settings, under the "SEO" tab, enable "Enable custom SEF settings for K2 URLs".

All your tag and user URLs will now be in the form of /content/tag/X or /content/user/X.

This trick is already live on getk2.org - examine the blog and its tags (I use "show" as the alias)...

I know that i can make links clear by linking item menu to a tag. but for a news based website it is difficult to create menu link for every tag.

Let Me Explain the issue:
Suppose i have a tag named "usa" and two category named Politics & Sport accordingly i have 2 news with tag "usa" that one is in politics and another in Sport category so if i open news from Politics category and click on usa tag under that item link will point me to an address like mywebsite/politics/tag/usa and if i open a news from 2nd category, link of same tag will be mywebsite/sport/tag/usa , So the result is 2 links for a single tag.
I think there should be a way for unique link for a tag like mywebsite/tag/usa for both scenario .
Kindly guide me in this regard

thanks for your reply. Wouldn't reinstalling K2 bring any problem? Would all the extra fields, tags and such remain? We use those a lot...

Follow this guide to create your own set of K2 template overrides: getk2.org/documentation/tutorials/174-templating-with-k2-and-the-concepts-of-sub-templates

Then you'll be able to change the HTML to the elements you want, e.g. swap the title's <h2> element with <h1>.

Keep in mind that you can still use canonical URLs even for multilingual sites. According to Google webmasters.googleblog.com/2011/12/new-markup-for-multilingual-content.html it just requires some additional meta tags.

Since I have a new plugin in the works for multilingual associations in K2, I will make sure to add these as well.

I've many read many post about the pagination not working in K2 2.10.2 and I haven't found any solution.

In my case in the catagory.php the array $this->pagination contains the data, and the joomla function $this->pagination->getPagesLinks() don't work.

I try:

- Re-save the category
- Paste the new category.php code in my override

My website works with PHP 7.1 version, can it be because of this?

I'm sure that your solution "offer a way to batch add one or more tags to a set of items" will be welcome in K2 community. I have, on my side, met this situation several times :-)
For now, I probably need to run it through the direct SQL query.
But when i think about it, it is a SQL level i don't handle. If you could suggest me an SQL query in example, it would be really great...

This could be dealt in 2 ways in K2. Either allow creating a menu item to multiple tags or offer a way to batch add one or more tags to a set of items. Or both.

I can surely evaluate both options for future versions of K2.

But to do that now it would require running direct SQL queries to manually insert the new tag (C) on all items with tags A and B. Let me know if you'd want me to prepare them for you.

Hi guys,
I have a websites with more then K2 5 000 items.
Some of them have a Tag "A" and some others a Tag "B". Some of them have both "A" and "B".

Today I need to create a page with all items Tagged with "A", "B" or both...
The link available in Menu for K2 allow to select only 1 tag (or did I miss something ?)

So, I decided to add a third tag on every item tagged with "A" or "B" called for example Tag "C", so I can create the link in my menu for the tag "C". I wanted to do that by SQL with "DB Replacer" from Regular Lab.
But the way Tags are managed in the database don't allow me to do that (or said in an other way : I don't know how to :-)

Does any one have an idea to go through this ?
Any advice would be really welcome.

In K2 v2.10.2 the page title and meta tags have been "normalized" to display in a consistent way.

The "page heading" specifically is meant to override the actual heading by the component. So if you're in a category, it should override the category title (if it's set of course). Same goes for every other view.

If you wish to override that behaviour and do something else, you can always slightly modify your K2 template overrides.

If you add tags in your items, then you can just enable the "related" items block in the K2 category settings (under the "item view" options in the 3rd tab of the category edit form).

Im using the plugin "Canonical Links for K2". Recently ive realized, that ive 2 canonical tags. I thought its a plugin bug. After deactivating i had 1 canonical tag left.

Like this:

<link href="/shops.html" rel="canonical" />

Its creating a canonical tag without the full url (doamin included), just the slug.

Is k2 is generating this canonical tag?

I use distinct names so it's clearer.

Are you using another extension that possibly modifies your meta tags?

That's not K2 even remotely. If you have any "security" extensions, look there first as the issue may re-surface.
