I have menu items for each of my categories and sub categories.

 

I have k2 modules set up to display TAGS, POPULAR USERS, INDIVIDUAL BLOGS, etc but have set these modules to only show on the pages where K2 articles/categories, etc are displayed.

 

If I view articles, all show up fine, modules saty in position etc.

 

BUT, If Click on a TAG link, click on an individuals blog or search for an article via the K2 Search module, the resulting page opens up full width of template and all side modules are gone/hidden away.

 

If I set modules to display on all then they stay there, but this is not convenient. I only want the K2 modules to display on pages where K2 is present.

 

Any Ideas or help appreciated

I run a Joomla site that uses K2 as a blog platform and I have sh404sef installed for SEF purposes. When I click on an item in my blog, the URL created is perfect, but the item shows as an inactive menu item. Meaning, the inactive modules will show on this page and the highlighted menu item above will no longer be there (i.e. blog will not be highlighted anymore even though this is a blog item).

 

When I disable sh404sef, this problem does not happen anymore. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue?

 

The only reason I need it fixed is because I modules published on my blog page (categories, comments, tag cloud, archive) that I want to be shown on the blog items pages too, but they aren't there because the site thinks these items are inactive. Any thoughts?

Patrick got the same query you have and on the same line (787) but does not work! also put the query to cliffclof and does not work, I have the k2 2.4.1 too, when I capture the tags are well organized to the tag 24 after the tag 25 puts me above all in order, the order starts again, someone knows why this happens? or do I need? greetings and thanks. sorry if I write bad English

I've read a lot about search issues on this forum. The K2 Search doesn't work on my site :-(

Any type of search (word, phrase...) displays a BLANK PAGE.

 

I desabled "Activate search in tags" in the Search - K2 plugin. Unfortunately this displays the search query as title of page but not any result... (blank, so...).

 

I use K2 v2.4.1

 

My client wants (of course) search results AND tags results.

For replacing the text of the print, email, etc... with images, it is possible (see this template for example:

In order to do this, you'll have to edit your item.php file, find the areas where these links are created and add an img tag in the <a> tag so that it looks something like this

As far as the personal link or IMG, I imagine that is something you need to be change on an article basis?  If so then you'll probably need to create an extrafield to use as the value and then recall that field value in the area where the buttons are defined. es que hice lo que le recomendaste a Pedro instale el ie8_compatibility_1.5 porque tengo joomla 1.5 pero sigue haciendo lo mismo el explorer, en mi caso lo que hace es que al momento de estar creando un articulo en k2 y adjuntando un archivo cuando le doy click en examinar no me abre al ventana para seleccionar el archivo pero si le doy doble clik en el campo de la izquierda del boton de examinar si me abre la ventana, tambien si le doy un click fuera de examinar y le doy click a examinar otra vez si me abre la ventana esto nada mas pasa con explorer, con firefox y demas navegadores si funciona, puedes ver la imagen de examinar.

 

otro error que me sale es el de la imagen que te adjunto, ademas de otro que me desaparece unas viñetas de un modulo aunque no siempre.

 

me podrian ayudar? de los agradecaria mucho.

Oh, sorry I forgot that. But it is quite simple, the error is occurring because the tags "ul" of "menu top" and "K2 CAT menu" has the same CSS class.

To correct this error add the code below to your template.css

The search module has been updated in v2.5 and now you can define specific categories for it to search. So you can create multiple copies of the module (e.g. 2) and have one for the site, the other for an intranet section and so on ;)

 

Tagging is another story, but we'll work out something for that as well.

It uses the K2 core remove function, so all is deleted : images, attachments, videos, tag references...

Don't understand what you mean by the last stage. i have followed on a local host install and it seems to be creating a png and a jpg and still picking the converted png.(this is in the cache folder.)

So how do I get it to recognise the png.

Finally, wherever you are using an image from the k2 item, replace the .jpg extension with .png (if you need transparancy).

In short, technique writes an additional set of png (alpha intact) to the cache directory, and makes them available to the application via the same name as the jpg counterpart. No existing functionality should be broken by this since it is an additive change. I'll post a more thorough blog about this at some point.

One final note, if you need to implement the png version, a simple string replace looks something like this:

Thank you so much for responding. My website allows registered users to create their own flashcards and save the data. Unregistered can click on a subject (say Math) in the Category module in hopes of seeing all the results of other users that have created cards related to Math. Quizlet.com is a perfect example of what I am trying to get help with. If you go to that page. Click on math, you see the results of users that created flashcards related to the tag Math. I want something similar.

 

Can K2 help me with this? If so, can you point me in the right direction.

 

I just dont know how to do this. I want to know if K2 can help with this. Or is there Joomla MySQL work required to program.

You could try going back to the previous version of K2 . . . there's obviously an issue with the current version of K2's handling of jquery/mootools in some templates/configurations which hasn't been addressed or resolved yet.

Thanks for all the replies!! I tried disabling the MooTools Upgrade and it didn't make any difference. I'm using GavickPro's MusicTube template, and before updating my K2 version, this was not an issue. :(

I have re-uploaded all of the K2 files, and carefully checked to see that they all have the correct permissions and are the correct file size, so I don't really know what to do next?

The text you have put in the article has many tags that are not needed, like spans with style on them, etc. Either choose to clean the text before pasting it in the item box on the backend or you could enable the introtext clean up code from K2 general parameters and just put which tags you want to allow for the text.

Once you upload the zip file you don't have to put anything in the article. The gallery appears where the K2 template tells it to. You can rearrange the position of the gallery and the other blocks by editing the template files, after you have made a template override first.
If you want to put between the text a gallery you need to do it the old fashion way, by creating a folder in images/stories and putting your photos there. After that, use the {gallery} tag to call your gallery.

what this component can do:

1. migrate wp posts to K2

2. migrate wp comments to K2

3. migrate wp categories to K2

4. migrate wp tags to K2

5. convert wp read more tag to K2 tag

6. convert wp double line breaks to paragraph tag

7. split introtext and fulltext

8. maintain tags relationships with posts

 

what this component cannot do:

1. copy images

2. migrate users

 

other cons:

1. wp table name hardcoded in the component

2. post item params hardcoded in component

3. category params hardcoded in component

4. this is not installable component

5. if your wp post have more than 1 category, only the first one will be use in K2

6. you can only migrate it to empty K2 component, because this component will be using the original IDs from wp to maintain the relationships

 

how to use it:

1. unzip the component to your /administrator/components/com_wp2k2

2. export your wp tables, then import it in database that have K2 installed

3. change the wp table name in controller.php

4. from your joomla backend, run yourdomain.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_wp2k2

I'm new to K2 but not Joomla.I've got two Joomla sites and I've installed K2 onto both. One is using the earlier version of K2 and the tags work fine.My latest Joomla site is pretty much the same set up and I installed K2 from the same package but noticed the Item tabs and K2 Tags were not working at all so I unistalled and installed 2.4.1.The K2 item tabs work fine but now my Tag don't work at all.I create a new item, give it a title, an alias and then I go to add a tag and although I can type something in, it never saves.I have tried hitting return key and adding a comma but neither works.I have saved the item to see whether the tags will appear on the actual page but they do not.I have tried everything but no tags will save or show after Item has been saved and published. MY Joomla and K2 installation is clean bar one or two extensions but no extensions for K2 have been installed.

 

Any help much appreciated. 

am testing K2 for the first time, and came up with this problem of un-ordered Author layout... i have checked the modified and created dates of articles. and i couldnt find an OPTION or Radio Button for Author layout. But the Global settings have this option for Tag & Search Generic layouts for Ordering.

 

is there anyway to modify my Author Layout Ordering? or any settings which could override?
