You should assign your Registered users to a K2 User group and append the right permissions for them in order to be able to post comments. (How didn't I thought of that earlier??)

For the reCaptcha issue maybe this post will help you.

K2 Comments not working or loading

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I am having a similar issue; if i send a comment it doesn't stop loading and nothing happens, even if i don't fill anything in the form. Usualy then it came a warning that something is missing. I tried to change jquery libraries, disabled / enabled several options like recaptcha, comments only for registered users etc. I also deleted every duplicate of jquery files on my server but nothing helped.

The strange thing is, that comments have worked without problem 1 month ago (you can see latest comments from june on start page) and i didn't change anything till today except adding new articles and categories to k2. Today i saw this and hoped that the actual k2 update will help, but it didn't.

Did you already find a solution for this problem now?

You can try to comment on my site: aktione.ch

Thank you in advance

Sincerly

Michael

[SOLVED] Re: reCaptcha not working

Category: English K2 Community

I figured out what the issue was in my case and maybe for several other too ...

There are FOUR areas where reCaptcha is configured in Joomla/K2 installation ... most everyone has been only adjusting the settings from THREE areas, the last setting is sooooo tucked away many of us missed it.

Here is a revised set of instructions for getting reCaptcha to work with Joomla and K2 ...

- Goto www.google.com/recaptcha and get your Public Key and Private Keys.
- Goto Joomla Admin > Plug-in Manager > Captcha - ReCaptcha and enter your Keys and ENABLE Plug-in.
- Goto Joomla Admin > Global Configuration > Default Captcha and set it to use "Captcha - ReCaptcha".
- Goto Joomla Admin > Components > K2 > Parameters > Comments > Anti-spam protection and set it to use "Google reCaptcha" (or Both), plus ENABLE "reCaptcha for registered users".
- Goto Joomla Admin > Components > K2 > Parameters > Advanced > down to "Anti-spam Settings" and enter your Keys again, plus set "Enable reCaptcha on registration form" to YES.

Many of us have done those steps several times trying to figure out the right combination, however there is one final step, mentioned earlier in the forum, a conflict with the default reCaptcha in Joomla vs. K2. The answer to get it to work is this ...

- Goto Joomla Admin > User Manager > Options (button) > Captcha and set it to use "NONE". This will turn-off the default user registration reCaptcha loading in the background behind K2 and causing the conflict.

End of Madness! ... Good luck everyone ... :woohoo:

Comment styling and captcha in item view

Category: English K2 Community

Question: is there any possibility to change the styling of the comments in item view? I want to get rid of the "enter the website URL"

Question: does K2 only support re captcha ? as re captcha is not working on my site ... are there other possibilities?

i had lot´s of responses anyway that recaptcha sometimes is realy hard to read - therefor I am using and want to integrate EasyCalcCheck PLUS

Cheers

Hello Vangeli,

Could you be more precise about your issue?

What steps did you take in order to setup your captcha?
Which version of K2 and Joomla!?
Have you checked if captchas are working with the system or the atomic template?

The gavick forum moderators says to ask you for this problem, because k2 is third-party component.

Any help please?

K2 comments hidden for registered users

Category: English K2 Community

Hi guys, I have had to re-register on here as my old username wasnt working - not to worry.

I am using J3.1.1 and K2 2.6.6 (now 2.6.7 SVN just in case it fixed it) and am having the same problem. Just to clarify that I have tested this with NO K2 overrides in place at all and it is still true.

I, like many other have been having major problems with human spam getting through the captcha system, originally I just wanted to replace the captcha with playthru as that seems to stop most of it but in the meantime I have just put in place a registration process with playthru captcha and enabled comments only for registered users.

The problem is though, whenever the comments are enabled for everybody they show up perfectly, once I enable only for registered users they vanish completely. It is very odd.

First of all, is this something that has alreadsy been experienced? And secondly - how on earth can i fix it as I need the comments function and really do NOT need the spam that comes in when it is left open.

Thirdly, for the developers really. Why does this use a captcha system that is independent from the Joomla set version? Can it not be created that whatever system captcha is setup the K2 comments captcha uses that instead as it would allow more freedom for people to remove recaptcha - quite frankly it doesnt offer much protection these days - in favour of any of the other ones out there for Joomla that do work

Disablingg the recaptcha plugin does make the K2 recaptcha work... BUT I also need the recaptcha plugin to be enabled to work with other components that I have on the site (Mosets Tree and others)

How can recaptcha work for all components?

Hi Krikor, I have finally found the issue. Due to a mistake I made in the URL rewriting of the site URL, the K2 URL was not properly shown resulting in not executing the comments submit code correctly.

Thank you for your response.

The issue can be closed.

Regards,

Mark

ps. I have updated the side to the latest Joomla version

Hello,

First of all you should upgrade to 2.5.11 asap. There are several security fixes.
I don't think you should have disabled the reCaptcha plugin and you haven't mentioned if you have any JS errors.

[SOLVED] ReCaptcha not working

Category: English K2 Community

I have installed: Joomla 2.5.4 and K2 2.6.6
I have done the following instructions (based on Khalil and others)
1. Disabled the Captcha ReCaptcha Plugin
2. Set User Configuration - Captcha "None selected"
3. Set K2 Parameters for Comments to Enable reCaptcha in Comments to "Yes"
4. Copied and Pasted Keys to K2 Advanced Parameters
5. Disabled reCaptcha on Registration Form
6.Disabled StopForumSpam.com integration on the user registration form
7 Enabled the on the K2 Category the options K2 plugin and Comments

The comment form shows the generated keys by Google (see attachment), however when submitting the comment form results in a page hangup. Any tips and/or tips to debug?

Hello Imke, your registration page was not an issue, if you uploaded the Dutch translation for K2 it would have been in Dutch.

As far for registrations and reCaptcha As-salamu alaykum has posted a very thorough step by step solution.

Hi, uninstalling K2 worked. Incidentally it also solved some of my other issues that I hadn't connected to K2, like my registration form being in English when it should've been in Dutch...

I tried your idea Brad, and it still won't work. As it stands now, no one can register on my site because of this.

Same thing here. I haven't been able to make it work: Any way I fill in the captcha it will still tell me it's wrong. The only thing I can think of now is to uninstall K2 :-( because I need users to be able to register. Still, I hope someone finds a solution for this problem.
