In your css File - usually k2.css you have to search this:

 

div.catItemImageBlock, div.itemImageBlock, div.userItemImageBlock, div.genericItemImageBlock {
    float: left;
    margin: 2px 5px 0 0;
    padding: 0;

delete the float tag and your Image will be in the middle.


I have K2 set up for articles. I want to block the search engine crawlers from seeing duplicate content on my site. For example I have this article:

Also showing up in this Category:

ridersurance.com/Insurance

Also showing up under my user view:

ridersurance.com/blog/Brandon-Parrish

Also showing up under this tag:

So how can i make it to where they only crawl the actual item?

However, you are asking how that could be done with K2 BNR...  The issue is that K2 BNR IS A MODULE. So if you want to try and us K2 BNR then the only way possible I can see to do that would be to us a module anywhere plugin that would allow you to insert a module, K2 BNR, into the content of a K2 Item.  This would work on the actual Item page, but I don't believe it will work for you in a category layout where multiple Items are shown on one page.

 

So what I am saying?

If you want to do this with K2 BNR, then you will need a module anywhere plugin,  If you don't want to use Modules to do it then you CAN'T use K2 BNR.  If you want the extra fields to show up on Items listed in a Category layout, then I do not believe you can use K2 BNR.

 

I would recommend looking at K2Custom, as it allows you to easily make templates using {bracket tags} to change the layout of an article.

For example; if add article called "K2 Community 1" and added tag called "K2 forum" to article( K2 Community 1) there is no problem.

but if add same tag (K2 forum) to different article (for exp: K2 Community 2), this* error message appear on the last added article's page. (first one is fine)

I am currently adding a few functions to my Joomla 1.5.21 + K2 + Virtuemart 1.1.7 website and I am trying to build a module that lists articles by a certain tag. I cannot find any modules that would do such a thing though.

 

An in-depth explanation of what I would like is I am trying to add this module that lists articles by tag to my product pages in virtuemart. I want the module to list any articles that have the products name as a tag. Does something like this exist? If not, can someone point me in the direction to go to perhaps pay someone to write something like this for me?

Sorry to dig up a bit of an old thread but i am being a bit on the dumb side today and for some reason can't get this hack to work with K2 v2.3.

 

So if someone would be kind enough to let me exactly where in components/com_k2/css/k2.css i add the following or pop up a copy of their generic.php and k2.css

I've tried multiple options, turning the global editor off, then turning it back on again selecting tinymce, I even installed JCE. All works fine in the back end - just can't edit via the front end. Without that option there's no point in using K2 which I liked for it's ability to subcatagorise.

I thought it might have been a permission issue but then I wouldn't have the option to edit at all... Will look into akeeba.

 

If anyone has come across this please can I have a heads-up how to resolve this issue xxxx

I tried to get this working. The LikeButton does show up, but I can't get the content image plugin to work.

It seems like it doesn't work on k2 items. The Plugin does not set the og:image tag.

Anyone got a solution for this?

In my experience, which leans more toward Joomla than it does Wordpress, K2 has a distinct advantage of simplified templating, easy modifications and its native backend interface which is easy to explain to others and get them up to speed when posting that include photos, video and attachments. It's tagging system is potentially more useful and robust. I love it.

 

Where it falls short of Wordpress: Items cannot be posted to multiple categories, causing a quandary in some content structure logic. It does not have a mobile app, which allows users to quickly post via mobile devices. While there are advantages to being in Joomla, K2 inherits the hassle of having to migrate to newer versions every two years or so, causing great issues with cost, client relations and potential SEO / URL issues. Lastly, as previously mentioned, it does not a draft, auto-save and preview system, which has caused thousands of words to go missing because of session or database timeout (NOT WRITER FRIENDLY).

I use mod_jw_cc-v1.1 to display a video within a module. That works perfectly.
However, I can't see the preview image.

I precise, the same video and its preview image are displayed correctly within a k2 item. I have a jpg file with the same name of the video in the same folder.

Any idea?

EDIT : Please forget. I Found the issue. I had a mistake in the tag as I should modify the video width to fit the module --> {wmv}myvideo 100|190 {/wmv} does not work but {wmv}myvideo |190 {/wmv} works!

I love your k2 cat menu and have a couple of basic questions please. I see that you posted the file in 2009, has there been any updates since then?  I downloaded and installed the file via the Joomla installer on my local MAMP server and it seems to work fine so far at least for the 10 min. that I've tried it ;-)  I read here someone talking about a menu conflict where you said to:

"Oh, sorry I forgot that. But it is quite simple, the error is occurring because the tags "ul" of "menu top" and "K2 CAT menu" has the same CSS class. To correct this error add the code below to your template.css div#horiz-menu ul.menu li a:hover { background: none !important; }"

 

Do I still need to do this or has the file been updated?

 

Next when I mouse over the subcategories I see the names but when I move over a name it goes white?/blank.  it does work though if you click it but just wondering how to fix that?

Primary problem: - frontend editor opens - it displays most fields except the main content so I cannot see the editorial copy to edit!!!!

Secondary: - no 'new' page option on the frontend - just 'edit' above the page title.

 

Logged in as Administrator with Site Owner status on the K2 usergroup. I have EVERYTHING enabled. On all parameters, I've removed the login module generic to Joomla. 

 

Note: I cannot remove tags added via the backend editor?

 

Template for the site is: Epic Pro.

I am working with K2 on my site and I am wondering if I am missing a setting on the menu item. First off what I am displaying is K2 items by category at this link:

The items are displayed as a listing format. But when I choose to display a menu item with K2 Tags, I get their "inside view" not the listing look that I am looking for:

Is there a setting I am missing or is there a way to get the tags to display just how the categories look?

Hello, I spent a couple of days looking around the web and can't seem to come up with a suitable answer to my problem.

 

Each of my items (27 in all) there are 3 accompanying info items.  At first I used extra fields but because the extra items contain so much html it breaks the html when using joomfish...couldn't come up with a fix for that so I took each accompanying extra field and created a separate item for each.

 

I am also using tags to achieve the multi category item layout.

 

I can use mod_dmk2articlelistpro to list the accompanying item titles (the items that use to be extra fields)...that works okay but it also means that I have to create 27 modules that match up with the current items.  I can't imagine my customer would be too impressed if every time they add a new item that they would then have to create another module in order to display the accompanying items.

 

Is there any way that this could be automated?  So basically what I have is a top level item that has 3 info items attached to it...the main item is a shopping cart item (using K2mart).

 

Any input would be appreciated...hopefully I've explained myself clear enough but at this point i may have confused myself!

My browser writes this message when I charge a page with K2 and SIG Pro:

"There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery PRO plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/333"

The folder exists and the images too. It is a problem of folder or file permission settings?

I think I created a Solution. It´s limited, but, maybe someone can improve later. I edited the code of the editor at \administrator\components\com_k2\ lib\ nicEdit.js. My intention was to modify the way the extraField incorporates images so I could include an image from the Joomla´s midia directory. I changed it at line 92: where was written txt:"URL",value:"http://" I changed to txt:"File Name",value:"images/stories/". Then I had a little trouble: If I write "../images/stories" the images appear on the editor but not in the site. With "images/stories/". they appear on the site... but not in the editor. The solution was to edit the CSS of the editor at administrator\templates\khepri\CSS\general and include this: table#extraFields.admintable img { border: 1px solid black;height: 100px; width: 100px; padding: 30px; margin:10px;background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #EEEEEE;}.The image itself  won´t be shown on the editor but will create a square to locate it, specially if you dont forget to include a text in the ALT tag. Well, that´s what I´ve got by now...

I agree with Paul: Joomla's team introduced a lot of new features but noone of them is in conflict with K2.

Some examples:

- Custom fileds

- Tags

- Author box

- Comments

- Header image

 

and many more.

 

It's true that with A LOT of other components it's possible to replicate these functions but you have to use A LOT of other components.

 

I think that if k2 team works quickly k2 could be a great open extensions for many years!
