When you upload video or audio files through the "Media" tab, they are moved into /media/k2/videos/. As such any custom posters won't be used, that's why AllVideos grabs its poster/preview image from 5th second of the video.

Indeed this is a shortcoming and I'll make sure to address it in a future update.

a) This may well be a security feature in iOS for WhatsApp. If some other site that you use works just fine in previews, please do send it to me as I don't use iOS or WhatsApp, but I can examine its meta tags...

b) Since these are not standard HTML attributes for the meta tag but Facebook specific, Joomla does not support creating such meta tags on-the-fly for third party components like K2. So what we do is process the most usual ones (e.g. og:title) and change "name" to "property" before rendering the output in Joomla and of course only when you're viewing K2 content.

In any case, since meta tags have been overhauled in K2 v2.10.x, they have been thoroughly tested to work as expected. There may be exceptions of course, but I doubt the issue is K2's implementation (which merely follows each provider's guides for sharing rich content in their platforms).

You control which image size K2 sends to Facebook & Twitter in the K2 settings.

You probably have a small size set there by default...

To tell you the truth it's a big issue for me. Mobile is almost everything in nowadays and I want the articles to show as good as they can be.

So I discover something. When I go to "posting schedules" to schedule a post when I paste the link I want to post it shows 2 same images under that. When I choose number 1, the post is with small thumbnail. If I choose number 2 image, the post shows the bigger image.

So maybe the solution is to stop K2 resize images and use only the big one. The original. Maybe.. I don't know

I have this problem. When I post an article from my website to my facebook page it shows different on mobile than desktop. The preview I mean. Does it use different size of image? How can I have the preview like desktop's on mobile too. I don't have this problem with articles not from K2

The new AllVideos will automatically render the 3rd sec as your video preview.

But you're right, if there's a poster image set remotely, it has to be used in favour of the automated poster feature.

I have been using All Video for a long time. All my videos were posted on YouTube (most of them are unlisted).

My web provider (infomaniak.com) is now offering a very interesting VOD service. With my website I have 10 Go free.
So I am moving my unlisted videos from You Tube to my provider.

Therefore I am facing a strange problem. The poster is not displayed even if there is one.
The preview image has the name as the video (it is a jpg). There are both at in the same folder.
All Video is using the image displayed at the 5th second of the video.

I was confused by the fact that the description in point 4 says that you can put your own jpg for remote files:

I see what you mean. For remote media, you can't use a custom preview file, because we can't check for the existence of such file without performing an additional network request (which is overkill).

Besides, the autogenerated thumbnail from the first few seconds seems just fine in your case...

AllVideos does not convert videos to static images with a play link on top of them. The Vimeo tags conversion is probably a feature that was built into AcyMailing, but that feature perhaps no longer works with YouTube.

In any case, AllVideos is not meant to be used with newsletters. It's more practical to insert an image/preview from a video (and one that you've chosen, not the auto-generated thumbnail from the video provider) plus a link to your site (and NOT the video provider - you're doing THEM a favour this way).

1. An article overview does not contain other items, just the item you see. If you mean categories, then how items are presented in what you see is controlled first by the respective K2 category or if you're creating a menu item pointing to multiple categories, some parameters like the grid are controlled by the menu item options.

2. Not out of the box. A plugin is currently being tested for that and will be released in September as part of the K2 Pro suite of extensions. 3. When K2 content is assigned to a menu item, the URLs are indeed simplified. But I did not suggest this change for that. You need different menu items if you need your layout (=modules) to be different across pages/sections.

Not directly. But this could make a nice feature for a future AllVideos Pro release :)

However local videos would require additional software on the server to extract some frame to use as K2 item image. YouTube videos can provide that preview frame from the YouTube API.
