I see in the features list for K2 v2.0 that a Tag Cloud is supported. I can not find it anywhere...has it been released yet?

Great component, but why ning?

Category: English K2 Community

I just wanted to let you know that k2 is an awesome component. However, I do find it rather disheartening that such a kick-ass joomla developer like joomlaworks would create a ning community for a project like k2.

I realize that you need to be politically prudent and avoid what could be seen as an alliance with any other joomla developer, but you could have achieved something way better than this ning community in less than a day with jomsocial and kunena. I find the features, search, and layout of the ning substandard for its purposes. You should also be utilizing k2 in your own community! Come on now. If you pay for a jomsocial license I'll build the k2 community for free!

For example, I want to post a tutorial on adding a feature to k2, but have no idea how to add in code to the forum. I guess I'll try it out here:
Code in a div in code tags with angled brackets
Code in a div in code tags with square brackets
Code in a div in pre tags with angled brackets

Code in a div in pre tags with square brackets

Code in a div

Let's see if it works... no preview button in the ning forum though so I have to publish it to see...

I want to believe the joomlaworks guys have to figure out a way to make some bit of money out of making life simpler for most of us none-expert programmers first before the or a manual is released into the public domain, so you guys and me have got to share our experiences in this forum particularly our discoveries so as to get going. Personally I am enjoying learning this way as I am a typical human being who refers to the manual only when I hit a brickwall. Here is what I have to share with you today:

I have plugged in image gallery from these guys and it works super when you insert the tag {gallery}your_image_folder_in_joomla_stories_folder{/gallery} inside your Joomla! article text and not in the K2 item. If there is a work around can somebody share with us?

Now concerning K2, has any of you guys followed my learning approach with an empty joomla installation without samples? If you have how about checking the parameters for your items or categories if not in K2 then in components.

I will get to it but at the moment I am working on what I want for my clients' site, which is having a clickable image gallery that sends the visitor to the actualcontent plus also a working blog that can accept image uploading from users while online.

Just found K2 and I love it! Wow what a great tool! Was wondering if anyone out there had done any podcasting to iTunes using K2? Was thinking just need to make sure that the right tags were added and it should work fine but wondering if anyone had any thoughts or examples?

reviews plugin

Category: English K2 Community

Just looking over my site and I have come to the realisation that if K2 had a review plugin I could remove my jreviews component entirely and keep all the content together. Is this something that could be done or is being thought up currently?

K2 is an ideal platform to be able to add a reviews side to it allowing custom parameters for each rating, the tagging system within K2 would also help with cross promotion.

cheers

leigh :)

Display tags in category description

Category: English K2 Community

Hi! K2 is awesome. It is very easy to skin/mod. Currently i'm looking for a way to display tags in the category description. IDK if there is an easier way, but I thought of displaying the tags of the first item in that category. I'm running an anime website and basically the category is the anime and the items are the episodes. The tags are the genres. So if there is a way to display those in the description it would be great.

It would be even better if we could tag the actual category. So it would do the same thing as above but when i click a tag, it would list all other categories with the same tag! Isn't that great?!

Building a theatre website - How to use Categories/Extra fields/tags

Category: English K2 Community

I've been wanting to rebuild my small theatres website for quite some time. I'm just learning Joomla and downloaded K2 because I think it may help in what I want to do.
I'm trying to figure a structure to store indivdual shows by their season. That isn't so bad but I'm trying figure the most efficient way to store the ton of individual bits of info about the show. Director, cast members, production crew. I'd like this stuff to be searchable or groupable somehow. I've attached a listing of the fields that a show could conceivably have. Although most shows don't have every bit filled out.

Is this doable or am just going down the wrong path?
Thanks,
Joomla and K2 Noob

How can the Chidren Categories tagline be disabled?

This appears independently of the page title, and does not appear to be editable, nor toggled on/off.

K2 Content Module Filter by Tags

Category: English K2 Community

Thanks for the reply Lownotes!

What I really want though is the module, displaying articles by tag like it would for a category. Specifically, I want several modules, each with a different tag filter set, and then I want to load each of them into a tab so that when you go to the home page you see a series of tabs, with a tag name on each, which loads the article snapshots displayed in the module. I tried loading the modules into RokTabs, and that would work beautifully for me if I could just figure out how to filter the module display by tags instead of categories.

It is nice to know you can link to tags from a menu item though - that's a welcome feature.

K2 Content Module Filter by Tags

make a k2 menu item to "tag"

then you can link to it from elsewhere if you're using something like JCE that allows you to link to a menu link.

I haven't quite figured out the return order of these pages though. Would be nice to control that a bit.

K2 Content Module Filter by Tags

Category: English K2 Community

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone would know how to add the following functionality to the K2 Content Module:

I would like to be able to show (filter) items by their tag rather than their category. This way I could display a list of items tagged with "humor" for example even if they exist in their own designated categories "article" "blog" etc.

Has anyone done this or have any ideas?

Tags in k2_tools module are not translated after switching to another language. Tags in items are correct.

Converted this site to K2 today, plus a few other bells.

www.wsuculturalaffairs.org/

Need to switch the template out to get some drop downs and more module positions. But nice transformation for this site. Had no content a few days ago.

K2 is great for tagging here, videos in content, web links, extra fields and comments.

The ultimate goal is for the articles to become a digital archive of each event.

Corrupted Item - mootools.js error from the backend - can't edit

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,

I had this problem too. If a K2 item had a gallery assigned to it, JCE editor would not appear, the tabs were not clickable, and params on the right-hand side were all expanded.

Also, I was getting some MooTools related errors.

The Fix:

I've added the noConflict setting for jQuery and now everything seems to be working properly.

Try adding this line to your admin template index.php (most probably /administrator/templates/khepri/index.php):

Add it right above the closing tag, around line 46.

All credit for this, goes to the guy who posted this: ryanrhode.com/node/7

Thanks,
Ngatai.

Place tags in own category lists

Category: English K2 Community

It would be great if you could specify a category for your tags. My site has or will have many subjects and hundreds of tags associated with subject category and sub-categories. At the minute I have the add tag to article list mounting up to become too large for members to really benefit from using and feel they will only add the first few tags not directly associated with the subject matter.

Is there a way to do this and i have missed that part or has that ability not been added to K2.

Thanks.
