Could Joomlaworks and/or Fotis just share if they are still working on a K2 version 4 for Joomla 4?
We would really appreciate some communication that can keep our hopes high!

Communication is key! What are your plans? Are you still in business?

At this point skipping Joomla 4 for a Joomla 5 version is not an option. I can only image the volume of negative reviews you will receive for leaving a loyal customer base (many of which have offered to purchase a subscription) high and dry.

You've damaged your reputation, but it's not beyond repair...communicate, now, please!!!

We agree. We will "Upgrade" to Joomla 4 and have also moved all content to Joomla. Can you suggest best way to Completely Remove K2 before we upgrade. Don't want any glitches to happen in the process. Thanks Much.

I've seen extensions that will update items > articles, but my concern is that we have created a number of custom K2 templates. Do you know if the Joomla 4 com_content will allow for similar custom templates? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

You can use the Joomlart convert K2 to articles plugin. Be sure to unpublish/uninstall both the Joomlart plugin and K2 before beginng the migration.

Well, yes and no.
K2's system of templates/sub-templates is more nuanced, easier to work with, and, naturally, K2 selectors are not the same as J article selectors.
And then there's the issue of replacing the K2 content module = the Swiss Army knife of modules, for which there is no equivalent in a default J4 install.
Bottom line; be prepared to massively overhaul your css and layout overrides.

Hello Joomla Works, hello Fotis,
I am staring with horror to admin panel error message that support of J3 has ended for a month already and regularly visit this thread for signs of update of K2. My horror doubles when I see no new info. I simply can not migrate all sites built with k2 in the last 10 years to native J - it is a suicidal perspective to loose the integration with allvideo, sig pro, subtemplating, basicaly everything and rebuild everything from scratch. I hope you are well and really plan to give us all hope in this miserable situation. There is no substitution of K2, there is no way you could abandon the project :)

Has anyone else tested the K2 release for Joomla 4 on Github?

After some minor tweaks I have it running, stable, on a barebones Joomla 4.3.4 PHP8.1 Cassiopeia-theme install

Go to github
Search for repository:   K2ForJ4

Instructions
  1. Update K2 to the latest official version
  2. Update Joomla to the latest J3 version (Joomla! 3.10.11)
  3. Take a full backup (it is always a good idea).
  4. Download and install this K2 version.
  5. Upgrade Joomla3 to Joomla4
  6. Finally, we kindly ask you to test and report!
